Aripiprazole (ARI) is an atypical antipsychotic which is a substrate of P-glycoprotein (P-gp), a transmembrane glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in eliminating potentially harmful compounds from the organism. ARI once-monthly (AOM) is a long-acting injectable form which improves treatment compliance. Genetic polymorphisms in ABCB1 may lead to changes in P-gp function, leading to individual differences in drug disposition.

These behavioral symptoms can be considered more detrimental to overall well-being than cognitive impairment. In the UK, risperidone is the sole approved atypical antipsychotic for treating these symptoms, despite its notable risk of serious side effects, including stroke.

Background: Foreign language syndrome is a rare neuropsychiatric phenomenon typically following general anesthesia. To date, foreign language syndrome has not been associated with neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) in the literature. This case aims to broaden the clinical understanding of NMS by presenting an atypical manifestation of foreign language syndrome and emphasizing the need for prompt recognition of such presentations for accurate diagnosis and management.

Objective: Autoantibody-associated psychosis represents a distinct disease subgroup of patients with schizophrenia with a suspected autoimmune origin. Although preliminary studies have suggested adjunctive drug treatment strategies targeting the immune system, further validation of these findings is warranted. Autoantibodies against SFT2D2 have been identified in patients with schizophrenia.
