We report the anion [Al(NON )(Se)] (NON =[O(SiMe NAr) ] , Ar=2,6-iPr C H ), which is an isoelectronic Group 13 metal analogue of the carbonyl group containing an aluminium-selenium multiple bond. It was synthesized in a single step from the reaction of the aluminyl anion [Al(NON )] with elemental selenium. Spectroscopic, crystallographic, and computational analysis confirmed multiple bonding between aluminium and selenium. Addition of a second equivalent of selenium afforded the diselenirane, [Al(NON )(κ -Se )] , which is an isoelectronic analogue of the dioxirane group.

The development of highly active and stable cathodes in alkaline solutions is crucial for promoting the commercialization of anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolyzers, yet it remains a significant challenge. Herein, we synthesized atomically dispersed CoP moieties (CoP-SSC) immobilized on ultrathin carbon nanosheets via a phosphidation exfoliation strategy at medium temperature. The thermodynamic formation process of the Co-P moieties was elucidated using X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and theoretical calculations.

Therapeutic Effects of GDF6-Overexpressing Mesenchymal Stem Cells through Upregulation of the GDF15/SIRT1 Axis in Age-Related Hearing Loss.

Front Biosci (Landmark Ed)

January 2025

Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, The Second Affiliated Hospital, Jiangxi Medical College, Nanchang University, 330006 Nanchang, Jiangxi, China.

Background: It has been reported the therapeutic effects of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) on hearing loss. This study explored the therapeutic effects of growth differentiation factor 6 (GDF6) overexpression-induced MSCs (MSCs-GDF6) on age-related hearing loss (ARHL) and its underlying mechanisms.

Methods: Reverse transcription-quantitative PCR and western blotting were used to evaluate gene expression.

The environmental impact of chemicals used in aquaculture, particularly nitrofurantoin, has raised global concern. Nitrofurantoin, a broad-spectrum antimicrobial, is commonly used in aquaculture despite safety risks. Determination of nitrofurantoin in water samples of fish ponds is necessary to ensure the safety and quality of seafood.

Delocalized multicenter bonds play a crucial role in clusters with a planar hypercoordinate center(s), making it difficult for highly electronegative elements, especially halogen atoms, to achieve the planar hypercoordinate arrangement. Herein, we introduce a star-like cluster Br6Li5-, whose global minimum contains a planar pentacoordinate bromine (ppBr). In this cluster, the central ppBr atom coordinates with five alkali metal Li atoms, which in turn bridge an equal number of electronegative Br atoms in the periphery, leading to the formation of the binary cluster Br6Li5-.
