Improvement in breast cancer screening technology has increased the detection of architectural distortion, which can often indicate underlying malignancy; however, there are also many benign causes of architectural distortion. We present a case of architectural distortion caused by cyst aspiration, representing a novel, benign cause.

Multithermal fluid (MTF) component ratios and injection parameters are critical inputs in offshore heavy oil development, such as injection adjustment and monitoring, productivity prediction, and generator combustion process optimization. We implement simultaneous in situ diagnostics of two emblematic injection parameters, the gas-water ratio (GWR) and noncondensable gases proportion (NCGP), in a pilot-scale environment. A system-level integration of a novel laser absorption spectroscopy multigas sensor system based on integrating stray radiation suppression and a circular cell-enhanced strategy is proposed.

Bioinspired Antiswelling Hydrogel Sensors with High Strength and Rapid Self-Recovery for Underwater Information Transmission.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

January 2025

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, State Key Laboratory of Metal Matrix Composites, Frontiers Science Center for Transformative Molecules, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, 800 Dongchuan Road, Shanghai 200240, China.

Hydrogel-based sensors typically demonstrate conspicuous swelling behavior in aqueous environments, which can severely compromise the mechanical integrity and distort sensing signals, thereby considerably constraining their widespread applicability. Drawing inspiration from the multilevel heterogeneous structures in biological tissues, an antiswelling hydrogel sensor endowed with high strength, rapid self-recovery, and low swelling ratio was fabricated through a water-induced phase separation and coordination cross-linking strategy. A dense heterogeneous architecture was developed by the integration of "rigid" quadridentate carboxyl-Zr coordination bonds and "soft" hydrophobic unit-rich regions featuring π-π stacking and cation-π interactions into the hydrogels.

This study explores the optoelectronic and photovoltaic potential of acceptor-π-donor (A-π-D) architectures utilizing CSi quantum dots (CSiQDs) through a combination of density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT (TDDFT). We examined two key structural configurations: C-C and Si-C conformers. In these systems, CSiQDs serve as the acceptor, CHSF as the π-bridge, and 3 × (CHO) as the donor.

There is an open debate on the role of artificial networks to understand the visual brain. Internal representations of images in artificial networks develop human-like properties. In particular, evaluating distortions using differences between internal features is correlated to human perception of distortion.

Enhanced Neural Architecture for Real-Time Deep Learning Wavefront Sensing.

Sensors (Basel)

January 2025

Free-Space Optical Communication Technology Research Center, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin 150001, China.

To achieve real-time deep learning wavefront sensing (DLWFS) of dynamic random wavefront distortions induced by atmospheric turbulence, this study proposes an enhanced wavefront sensing neural network (WFSNet) based on convolutional neural networks (CNN). We introduce a novel multi-objective neural architecture search (MNAS) method designed to attain Pareto optimality in terms of error and floating-point operations (FLOPs) for the WFSNet. Utilizing EfficientNet-B0 prototypes, we propose a WFSNet with enhanced neural architecture which significantly reduces computational costs by 80% while improving wavefront sensing accuracy by 22%.
