To investigate the efficacy and safety of mirogabalin, an αδ ligand, in patients with fibromyalgia (FM). In three 13-week, multicenter, double-blind, phase 3 studies (studies A, B, and C), patients with FM ( = 1293, 1270, and 1301, respectively) were randomized (1:1:1:1) to placebo, pregabalin 150 mg twice daily, mirogabalin 15 mg once daily or mirogabalin 15 mg twice daily. The primary endpoint was the change in weekly average daily worst pain score (ADPS) at week 13. Key secondary endpoints included Patient Global Impression of Change and change in the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire total score. Long-term safety of mirogabalin was assessed in a 52-week extension study. Neither mirogabalin dose demonstrated a significant ADPS reduction from baseline vs. placebo at week 13 in any of the three studies. Pregabalin significantly reduced ADPS from baseline vs. placebo in studies B and C ( = .0008 and .0001, respectively). The effect of mirogabalin compared with placebo on key secondary endpoints was variable across the studies. Mirogabalin was well tolerated by most patients in the phase 3 studies; no unexpected adverse events occurring during the 52-week extension study. While both mirogabalin doses were well tolerated by most patients and showed potential for reducing pain associated with FM, the primary endpoint of significant pain reduction in patients on mirogabalin compared with placebo was not achieved in any of the three randomized controlled studies. NCT02146430; NCT02187159; NCT02187471; and NCT02234583 (extension study).

Purpose: Management of discourse is acknowledged as a critical component of speech-language pathology practice with cognitive communication after traumatic brain injury (TBI). This scoping review aimed to collate the visual materials that are being used in empirical research for spoken narrative elicitation post-TBI, in both assessment and treatment contexts. We aimed to examine the format, structure, and sources for visuals used.

Objective: To report clinical outcomes of skeletally immature dogs with antebrachial deformities secondary to premature closure of the distal radial physis (PCDRP) treated with angular corrections and distraction osteogenesis using circular external skeletal fixation (CESF).
Study Design: Retrospective multi-institutional case series.
Animals: A total of 12 client-owned dogs with premature distal radial physeal closure.

Aims: Parent-adolescent communication is vital for the self-management of chronically ill adolescents. However, evidence regarding communication patterns and influencing factors between adolescents with chronic diseases and their parents remains limited. This study aims to synthesise and summarise these patterns and factors.

At present, there is no clear consensus on the impact of carbohydrate feeds on bee colony health, and comprehensive research and evaluation in this context is lacking. To comprehensively and objectively examine the health status of honeybees after consuming those carbohydrates from multiple perspectives, experimental techniques, including high-throughput sequencing of the transcriptome, proboscis extension reflex (PER), and measuring bee growth parameters were employed. This study showed that compared with honey, feeding high fructose syrup (HFS) resulted in a decrease in the survival rate and body weight of bees, while sucrose decreased the learning and memory ability of bees.

Bilateral preseptal cellulitis without accompanying sinusitis or skin trauma is uncommon. In this report, we present a case of bilateral preseptal cellulitis and an upper eyelid abscess in an otherwise healthy child. A nine-year-old girl presented with severe and progressive bilateral swelling of the upper lids that showed an unsatisfactory response to medical treatments (intravenous ceftazidime and vancomycin) and warranted a referral to our facility.
