Injury of the internal carotid artery (ICA), anterior cerebral artery (ACA), and middle cerebral artery (MCA) are rare but devastating complications during microsurgery of the anterior and middle cranial skull base. We systematically reviewed the current knowledge on ICA, ACA, and MCA injury during skull base microsurgery and performed a multicentric data collection to refine their management. A systematic review of ICA, ACA, and MCA injuries during direct microsurgical approaches to the anterior and middle cranial skull base was performed, using PRISMA-IPD guidelines and using a multicentric case collection.

Head lice infestation (HLI), caused by De Geer, 1767, has long been a common global problem of school children. Permethrin is an old pyrethroid derivative that has been used commonly for its treatment, and it exerts its activity over the voltage-sensitive calcium channels (VSCC) of the lice. There has been a growing list of persistent HLI cases lately in the world among patients using permethrin, and knockdown resistance (kdr)-related point mutations on VSCC have been identified and reported from those resistant lice samples.

Purpose: The paracentral lobule artery (PLA) is a typically present branch of the distal anterior cerebral artery (ACA), irrigating the homonymous lobule. The PLA origin is either a pericallosal portion of the ACA or a prominent branch of the ACA termed callosomarginal (CMA). In addition to the paracentral lobule, the PLA irrigates the cingulate gyrus in the medial hemispheric surface, and the superior portion of the precentral and postcentral gyri in the lateral hemispheric surface.
