The objective of this report was to document a successful partial limb amputation surgery in a cat with metatarsal osteosarcoma (OSA) including the use of pad grafts from the amputated foot. Limb shortening of the hindlimb through a partial amputation resulted in excellent limb function and usage. The patient retained functional use of the limb after surgery, with no lameness. There was no evidence of metastasis or local recurrence seen 323 days post-surgery. Limb shortening partial amputation is a reasonable option and can result in excellent limb use after surgery despite a significant loss in limb length.

This study describes the results of first metatarsal (M1) distal osteotomy with an intramedullary locking plate in persistent/recurrent painful hallux valgus (HV) deformity (without advanced degenerative changes) after primary surgery. Outcomes included postoperative incidences of HV angle (HVA)<16°, intermetatarsal angle (IMA)<9°, proximal articular set angle (PASA)<10°, and the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score. Data normality was assessed with the Shapiro-Wilk test, and preoperative vs.

This case report describes metacarpophalangeal (MCP)- and metatarsophalangeal (MTP)-level amputation and reconstruction of all 4 paws of a young female domestic shorthair cat. All 4 paws, the ears, and the distal portion of the tail underwent severe frostbite injury resulting in tissue death. Following MCP and MTP amputation, weight-bearing surface reconstruction was achieved using metacarpal and metatarsal paw-pad advancement flaps.

An eight-year-old spayed female Abyssinian cat presented with lameness. Palpation revealed swelling, heat, and a reduced range of motion in the stifle and tarsal joints in both hind limbs. A radiographic examination of both hind limbs revealed periosteal proliferation from the distal tibia to the tarsal and metatarsal bones, which suggested hypertrophic osteopathy.

The aim of this study was to perform three-dimensional reconstruction of the metatarsal and phalangeal bones using computed tomography, to obtain osteometric data and to determine biometric differences in terms of sexual dimorphism in the obtained measurements in Van cats, an endemic species living in the Van province region of eastern Türkiye and named after this region. Computed tomography images of a total of 16 adult and healthy Van cats, eight females and eight males, were used in the study. Three-dimensional modelling of the images and osteometric measurements were obtained using MIMICS 20.

Objective: Many patients who undergo tarsal coalition excision have persistent postoperative pain. Most studies have utilized cat scan (CT) scan parameters of pes planovalgus and heel valgus but have found this to be an inconsistent predictor of outcomes. Plain radiographic parameters have been less utilized in trying to predict outcomes after coalition excision.
