Strategic Analysis of Net Exchanges in Professional Padel: Insights From Different Competition Phases of the World Padel Tour Finland Padel Open Tournament.

Int J Sports Physiol Perform

December 2024

Neuromuscular Function Research Group, School of Exercise and Sport Sciences (SUISM), Department of Medical Sciences, University of Turin, Turin, Italy.

Purpose: This study analyzed the effectiveness of net exchanges (ie, number of times the pairs exchange their zone on the court from the net zone to the back zone or vice versa) in men's and women's professional padel depending on the competition phase.

Methods: Data were collected from 41 matches, comprising a total of 4829 points, from both the qualifying and the main draws of the World Padel Tour Finland Padel Open tournament. Descriptive analysis (frequency and percentage) and inferential tests (Pearson chi-square [χ2], Cramer V coefficient [Vc], corrected standardized residuals, and chi-squared automatic interaction detection) were carried out.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines how the perfectionistic environment in sports teams affects the performance of elite female basketball players, using the Perfectionistic Climate on Athletic Performance model (PCPM) as a framework.
  • By analyzing data from 125 players in a major tournament, the research reveals that a perfectionistic climate can have both positive and negative effects on athletic performance, depending on the type of stress and coping strategies involved.
  • The findings suggest that coaches should focus on helping athletes view perfectionistic pressure as a challenge and teach effective coping methods to improve performance and adaptability within the team.

Introduction: Late presentations of post-traumatic residual orbital roof deformities ensuing from old, unaddressed orbital injuries, can be extremely challenging to manage and quite complicated to correct, owing to proximity of the brain and frontal sinus, malunion or bony fusion of the displaced, delicate orbital fracture fragments, necrosis of entrapped extraocular muscles and progressive intraorbital soft tissue fibrosis and adhesions. There exists a paucity in literature on delayed repair of displaced and comminuted orbital roof fractures and late reconstruction of the three-dimensional architecture of the orbital frame and internal orbit.

Aim & Objectives: To present an unusual case of severe post-traumatic residual orbital roof deformity, resulting in longstanding aesthetic disfigurement and persisting functional deficits, and its successful management.
