Silver clusters were assembled in helium droplets of different sizes ranging from 10 to 10 atoms. The clusters were heated upon laser irradiation at 355 nm, and evaporation dynamics of He atoms were studied by quadrupole mass spectroscopy using signals from He, He, and He splitter ions. We found that for droplets containing less than 10 atoms the laser irradiation leads to evaporation of He atoms. However, the laser irradiation leads to the breakup of the large droplets into smaller ones.

Repeated closed-head injuries (rCHI) from activities like contact sports, falls, military combat, and traffic accidents pose a serious risk due to their cumulative impact on the brain. Often, rCHI is not diagnosed until symptoms of irreversible brain damage appear, highlighting the need for preventive measures. This study assessed the prophylactic efficacy of remote photobiomodulation (PBM) targeted at the lungs against rCHI-induced brain injury and associated behavioral deficits.

Hypoxic tumors present a significant challenge in cancer therapy due to their ability to adaptation in low-oxygen environments, which supports tumor survival and resistance to treatment. Enhanced mitophagy, the selective degradation of mitochondria by autophagy, is a crucial mechanism that helps sustain cellular homeostasis in hypoxic tumors. In this study, we develop an azocalix[4]arene-modified supramolecular albumin nanoparticle, that co-delivers hydroxychloroquine and a mitochondria-targeting photosensitizer, designed to induce cascaded oxidative stress by regulating mitophagy for the treatment of hypoxic tumors.

Purpose: Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory disease, in which T-Lymphocytes induce apoptosis of basal keratinocytes, leading to the formation of symptomatic lesions. It is assumed that blocking the cell death program and enhancing cell proliferation would be crucial to the healing process. The aim of the study was to verify the efficacy of Photobiomodulation (PBM) in OLP management, by evaluating the effects of laser irradiation on the processes of apoptosis and cell proliferation.

Gold nanorods (GNRs) mediated photothermal therapy (PTT) represents a promising technique for cancer treatment, utilizing GNRs in conjunction with near-infrared (NIR) laser irradiation to convert energy into heat. In the present study, we employed PTT to induce apoptosis in pancreatic cancer cells and investigated its underlying mechanisms through quantitative proteomics analysis. Initially, we established that temperatures ranging from 47 to 51°C significantly enhance cellular apoptosis without inducing necrosis.

Identifying antioxidant phenolic compounds (APs) in food plays a crucial role in understanding their biological functions and associated health benefits. Here, a bifunctional Cu-1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (Cu-BTC) nanozyme was successfully prepared. Due to the excellent laccase-like behavior of Cu-BTC, it can catalyze the oxidation of various APs to produce colored quinone imines.
