The residual broadening observed in H spectra of rigid organic solids at natural abundance under 111 kHz magic angle spinning (MAS) is typically a few hundred Hertz. Here we show that refocusable and non-refocusable interactions contribute roughly equally to this residual at high-fields (21.14 T), and suggest that the removal of the non-refocusable part will produce significant increase in spectral resolution. To this end, we demonstrate an experiment for the indirect acquisition of constant-time experiments at ultra-fast MAS (CT-MAS) which verifies this hypothesis. The combination of this experiment with the two-dimensional one pulse (TOP) transformation reduces the experimental time to a fraction of the original cost while retaining the narrowing effects. Results obtained with TOP-CT-MAS at 111 kHz MAS on a sample of β-AspAla yield up to 30% higher resolution spectra than the equivalent one-pulse experiment, in less than 10 min.

Background: Fruit quality traits, including taste, flavor, texture, and shelf-life, have emerged as important breeding priorities in blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum). Organic acids and sugars play crucial roles in the perception of blueberry taste/flavor, where low and high consumer liking are correlated with high organic acids and high sugars, respectively. Blueberry texture and appearance are also critical for shelf-life quality and consumers' willingness-to-pay.

Characterising the change rule of freshness and inorganic anions in reconstituted tobacco pulp with oscillation time.

In order to study the change rule of freshness and acid ions in reconstituted tobacco slurry, the content changes of 17 organic acids and 5 inorganic anions in reconstituted tobacco slurry with different residence times under confined condition were determined by on-line solid-phase extraction ion chromatography in this study. The results showed that the changes of acetic acid, nitrate ion and isovaleric acid in different reconstituted tobacco slurries with oscillation time were regular and consistent, and the trends of the changes of acetic acid, nitrate ion and isovaleric acid in different reconstituted tobacco slurries with oscillation time were correlated with each other in a highly significant way. Taking the evaluation of olfactory aroma and sensory quality qualities of reconstituted tobacco pulps with different residence times as a benchmark, it was found that the variation patterns of nitrate ions and isovaleric acid in reconstituted tobacco pulps with oscillation time were consistent with the variation patterns of olfactory and sensory qualities in the process of closed oscillation; compared with the fresh pulp, the olfactory aroma and sensory qualities of tobacco pulps had unpleasant odours appearing when the content of nitrate ions was reduced by about 48%.

Copper-Catalyzed Intermolecular [2 + 2 + 2] Annulation of Diynes with Alkynes: Construction of Carbazoles.

Transition-metal-catalyzed [2 + 2 + 2] annulation of alkynes is an efficient pathway for the synthesis of aromatic compounds. However, most of the established methods require noble metal catalysts. Herein, we report a copper-catalyzed intermolecular [2 + 2 + 2] annulation of diynes with alkynes through vinyl cation intermediates, enabling the atom-economical preparation of biologically important carbazole skeletons.

Tailored design of organic linkers or metal nodes can introduce desirable functionalities into metal-organic cages (MOCs), significantly expanding their potential applications. In this study, we present a viable approach for engineering acyl-type metal nodes to create interior oxygen-rich sites within MOCs, enabling specific recognition of metal ions, including radioactive contaminants, while maintaining the structural integrity of the MOCs. A novel MOC featuring a uranyl-sealed calix[4]resorcinarene (C[4]R)-based multisite cavity, referred to as UOC, is synthesized as a prototype.

Precise detection of ultralow-level antibiotics, such as picomole, in aqueous environments is significant for human health, however, it presents a great challenge to the adsorption capacity and electrocatalytic ability of sensing materials. Here, we used a one-step hydrothermal method to in situ grow spindle-like CoFe-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with a size of about 50 nm in the region of hydrophilic MXene-loading hydrophobic carbon paper. By combining MOFs with abundant adsorption sites and MXene with high conductivity, the problems of adsorption and electrons transfer of ultralow-level antibiotics have been solved, and achieving precise detection of picomole-level antibiotics.
