Article Abstract

Zinc gallate (ZnGaO) spinel ceramics doped with Mn ions was prepared by a solid-state reaction at 1200 °C in air. Manganese concentration was equal to 0.05 mol.% of MnO with respect to ZnO. Ceramics produced in this way show an efficient green emission at about 505 nm under UV or X-ray excitations, which is caused by Mn ions. This green emission is observed also as a relatively long afterglow (visible to the naked eye in the dark for about one hour) after switching-off the X-ray excitation. Time profiles of the beginning of glow and afterglow have been studied together with thermally stimulated (TSL) and optically stimulated (OSL) luminescence. Experimental results demonstrate a presence of few types of shallow and deep traps responsible for the observed afterglow and TSL/OSL emission of the material. The possibility of pulsed optical stimulation and time-resolved OSL characteristics of ZnGaO: Mn has been reported for the first time. The presented results suggest the ZnGaO: Mn spinel as a promising material for further fundamental research and possibility of application as a green long-lasting phosphor or storage phosphor for TSL/OSL radiation dosimetry.

Highly Active Catalytic CO Hydrogenation to Lower Olefins via Spinel ZnGaO Combined with SAPO-34.

Molecular Synthesis & Engineering of Products, College of Chemical Engineering, Sichuan University, Chengdu, 610065, P. R. China.

A key primary method for creating a carbon cycle and carbon neutrality is the catalytic hydrogenation of CO into high value-added chemicals or fuels. In this work, ZnGaO oxides were prepared by parallel co-precipitation and physically mixed with SAPO-34 molecular sieves prepared by hydrothermal synthesis to produce ZnGaO /SAPO-34 bifunctional catalysts, which were evaluated for the catalytic synthesis of lower olefins (C -C ) from carbon dioxide hydrogenation. It was demonstrated that the reaction process requires oxygen defect activation, synergistic hydrogenation, and CO alkaline adsorption of ZnGaO .

Steering the reaction pathway of syngas-to-light olefins with coordination unsaturated sites of ZnGaO spinel.

Significant progress has been demonstrated in the development of bifunctional oxide-zeolite catalyst concept to tackle the selectivity challenge in syngas chemistry. Despite general recognition on the importance of defect sites of metal oxides for CO/H activation, the actual structure and catalytic roles are far from being well understood. We demonstrate here that syngas conversion can be steered along a highly active and selective pathway towards light olefins via ketene-acetate (acetyl) intermediates by the surface with coordination unsaturated metal species, oxygen vacancies and zinc vacancies over ZnGaO spinel-SAPO-34 composites.

Transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) of semiconductor family gained significant attention due to increasing trends in the optoelectronic and thermo-physical applications. In current work, we reported electronic, optical, transport and thermodynamical properties of spinel oxides ZnGaO, [ZnGaO]:Mn and [ZnGaO]:Rh compounds. Based on DFT, we employed first-principles calculations implemented in Wien 2k using the modified-Becke-Johnson (mBJ) on parent spinel and generalized-gradient-approximation plus Hubbard potential U (GGA + U) on doped materials, respectively.
