A model for carboxylic acids, in both the protonated and deprotonated states, is developed in which hydrogen interaction sites are not used and all interactions are short-ranged. A method for constant pH simulations, which exploits these features of the model, is developed. The constant pH method samples protonation states by making discrete Monte Carlo steps and is able to efficiently move between states in two steps. The method is applied to the polymer poly(methacrylic acid), a pH-responsive polymer that undergoes structural changes as a function of pH. The model is able to reproduce the structural changes induced by pH.

This work is devoted to the study of the static magnetization of immobilized multi-core particles (MCPs) and their ensembles. These objects model aggregates of superparamagnetic nanoparticles that are taken up by biological cells and subsequently used, for example, as magnetoactive agents for cell imaging. In this study, we derive an analytical formula that allows us to predict the static magnetization of MCPs consisting of immobilized granules, in which the magnetic moment rotates freely the Néel mechanism.

Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is a technique employed in photovoltaic (PV) systems to ensure that the modules transfer the maximum generated power to the load. An advanced algorithm, the Improved Optimized Adaptive Differential Conductance (IOADC), was developed by applying Kirchhoff's law within a single diode model framework. The algorithm's performance was evaluated under various solar irradiance levels of 500 W/m, 750 W/m, and 1000 W/m at a constant temperature of 298K, analyzing its impact on power generation and transfer.

A set of coumarin-3-carboxamide analogues were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for their ability to impede pancreatic lipase (PL) activity. Out of all the analogues, 5dh and 5de demonstrated promising inhibitory activity against PL, as indicated by their respective IC values of 9.20 and 11.

Background: The spatial resolution of new, photon counting detector (PCD) CT scanners is limited by the size of the focal spot. Smaller, brighter focal spots would melt the tungsten focal track of a conventional X-ray source.
Purpose: To propose focal spot multiplexing (FSM), an architecture to improve the power of small focal spots and thereby enable higher resolution clinical PCD CT.

This study investigated the binding mechanism of taxifolin (TA), daidzein (DA), and S-equol (SQ) flavonoids with fish sperm double helix DNA (dsDNA) under the simulated physiological pH condition using UV-Vis and photoluminescence spectroscopy, as well as viscometric methods. Binding constants (K) for the flavonoids to dsDNA were determined as 1.8 × 10 M for SQ, 1.
