Purpose Of Review: The molecular imaging field has been very instrumental in identifying the multiple network interactions that compose the human brain. The cerebral glucose metabolism is associated with neural function. 18F-fluoro-deoxyglucose-PET (FDG-PET) studies reflect brain metabolism in a pattern-specific manner. This article reviews FDG-PET studies in Parkinson's disease (PD), atypical parkinsonism (AP), Huntington's disease (HD), and dystonia.

Recent Findings: The metabolic pattern of PD, disease progression, non-motor symptoms such as fatigue, depression, apathy, impulse control disorders, and cognitive impairment, and the risk of progression to dementia have been identified with FDG-PET studies. In prodromal PD, the REM sleep behavior disorder-related covariance pattern has been described. In AP, FDG-PET studies have demonstrated to be superior to D2/D3 SPECT in differentiating PD from AP. The metabolic patterns of HD and dystonia have also been described. FDG-PET studies are an excellent tool to identify patterns of brain metabolism.

Highlights from the breakout session: diagnosis and classification of vasculitis.

The session on 'Diagnosis and Classification of Vasculitis' featured six oral presentations covering various aspects of vasculitis diagnosis and classification. The application of the Ankara criteria for IgA vasculitis in adults was evaluated, finding that while the criteria showed good sensitivity, their specificity was insufficient, suggesting the need for refinement. A clustering approach to classifying ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV) identified five distinct clusters, which improved prediction of disease outcomes.

Purpose: This study aimed to compare the findings of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) to differentiate reactive lymphadenitis from nodal lymphoma of the head and neck.

Material And Methods: This study included 138 patients with histopathologically confirmed cervical lymphadenopathy, including 35 patients with reactive lymphadenitis and 103 patients with nodal lymphoma, who had neck MRI ( = 63) and/or F-FDG-PET/CT ( = 123) before biopsy. The quantitative and qualitative MRI results and maximum standardised uptake value (SUV) were retrospectively analysed and compared between the 2 pathologies.

Background: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a common neoplasm with poor prognosis in advanced stages. The clinical work-up in patients with locally advanced NSCLC mostly includes F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography computed tomography (F-FDG PET/CT) because of its high sensitivity for malignant lesion detection; however, specificity is lower. Diverging results exist whether whole-body MRI (WB-MRI) improves the staging accuracy in advanced lung cancer.
