Here, we present the proteome profiling of low-molecular weight (<50 kDa) proteins of seven different lentil cultivars developed by Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute. A total of 2873 peptides corresponding to 180 unique proteins were identified wherein >24% of them were described lentil allergens. Comparative relative quantitation showed differences in protein abundance of major allergen proteins such as Len c 1.0101, Len c 1.0102, and lipid transfer proteins (LTPs), indicating qualitative and quantitative variations in allergen proteins in lentil cultivars. In this report, for the first-time, the amino acid sequence of LTPs in lentil has been confirmed by high resolution mass spectrometry. In addition, ideal peptides of Len c 1.0101, Len c 1.0102, and LTPs allergens were further determined with multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) analysis. Therefore, this data could provide a great resource for further development of targeted, proteomics-based assays for quantification of lentil allergens.

Prebiotics and probiotics have key roles in the intervention and treatment of food allergies. This study assesses the effect of synergistic fructo-oligosaccharide (Lp-FOS) intervention using an allergic mouse model induced by soy protein. The results showed that Lp synergistic FOS significantly decreased clinical allergy scores, inhibited specific antibodies (IgE, IgG, and IgG1), IL-4, IL-6, and IL-17A levels, and increased IFN-γ and IL-10 levels.

Hymenoptera venom allergy (HVA) is a potentially life-threatening condition, making accurate diagnosis crucial for identifying significant IgE sensitizations and enabling effective venom immunotherapy. In this review, we provide a detailed overview of biomarkers for the molecular diagnosis of IgE-mediated hypersensitivity to Hymenoptera insect venoms in clinical practice, and we present, in a structured manner, their importance in differentiating genuine sensitizations versus cross-sensitizations using different diagnostic procedures. Updated algorithms are provided, along with the advantages and limitations of molecular diagnosis approaches.

The European Commission authorized the use of dried yellow mealworm (Tenebrio molitor - TM) as a food ingredient under Regulation EU 2021/882. As TM emerges as an important allergen source, sensitization and allergy to TM in various populations need investigation. The aim of this study was to assess the incidence of sensitization to TM before its introduction as a food ingredient in Poland, as well as checking the occurrence of co-sensitivity to TM and other invertebrate allergenic extracts and molecules.
