A novel trisarylborane-Bi(III) complex, tris(4-(dimesitylboryl)phenyl)bismuthine [Bi(PhBMes ) ], in which (Ph = phenyl, and Mes = mesityl), was synthesized via the reaction of bismuth (III) chloride (BiCl ) with three equivalents of lithiated (4-bromophenyl)- dimesitylborane [BrPhBMes ]. The new trisarylbismuthine was characterized by elemental analysis, ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy, and NMR ( H and C) spectroscopy. The molecular structure of Bi(PhBMes ) in the solid state was determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, which showed short intermolecular C-H···H-C contact. The complex is a fluorescent emitter (λ  = 395 nm) at room temperature and a phosphorescent emitter (λ  = 423 nm) at 77 K, which displayed a long lifetime of 495 ms. The UV-vis transitions were investigated using density function theory (DFT) and time-dependent (TD)-DFT calculations. Natural bond orbital analysis showed that the bismuth (III) center was mainly Lewis acidic in nature.

The judicious selection and combination of multicomponents provide great potential for the further exploration of new polyoxometalate (POM) materials. Here, a delicate control on tungstate, Sb and Bi sources, Eu ions, and organic molecules led to the discovery of a novel multimetal cluster-embedded POM [HN(CH)]NaH{[Eu(HO)SbBiWO](SbWO)(SbWO)}·78HO (). The polyoxoanion of was constructed from four in situ-formed [SbWO] and [SbWO] building blocks connected by two hexa-metallic [Eu(HO)SbBiWO] clusters, to be a rare member of Sb- and Bi-coexisting POM.

The effect of Bi-to-metal ion concentration ratio ( / ratio) on key evaluation indicators, including sensitivity, precision, and cathodic potential range, has been investigated for the determination of Cd and Pb at prepared bismuth film electrodes. Unlike the usual recommendation of at least a 10-fold excess of Hg(ii) for anodic stripping experiments at prepared mercury film electrodes, it is found that the / ratios in the 1-10 range are sufficient to obtain a high determination sensitivity, but that the signal decreases significantly when the ratio exceeds 40. Further analysis shows that the precision of the analytical results is good when the / ratio is in the range of 5-10.

Objectives: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) with endoscopic metallic biliary endoprosthesis(EMBE) serves as a crucial palliative treatment for advanced malignant biliary obstruction(MBO). While endoscopic nasobiliary drainage(ENBD) effectively reduces post-ERCP cholangitis (PEC) incidence, its impact on PEC in MBO patients is unclear. This study evaluates ENBD's effects on PEC in patients undergoing EMBE and identifies risk factors.

The heavier group 15 elements As, Sb, and Bi are more restricted in their biochemistry than the nearly ubiquitous lighter congeners N and P, but organisms do encounter compounds of these elements as environmental toxins, starting materials for secondary metabolite biosynthesis, substrates for primary metabolism, or exogenously applied medicines. Under many physiological conditions, these compounds are transformed into pnictogen(III) species, the soft Lewis acidic character of which leads them to interact strongly with biologically relevant soft Lewis bases such as small-molecule thiols or cysteine residues of proteins and peptides. The archetypal complexes As(Cys), Sb(Cys), and Bi(Cys) have been studied in the past but a lack of detailed information about their molecular structures has hampered the analysis of protein structures featuring As(III), Sb(III), and Bi(III) bound to cysteine thiolate residues.

Phase diagram for the quasi-binary thallium(I) selenide-bismuth(III) telluride system.

Department of Basic Chemical Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, Wrocław Medical University, Borowska 211, 50-556, Wrocław, Poland.

The phase diagram for the quasi-binary Tl2Se-Bi2Te3 system has been established based on the results of phase studies by differential thermal analysis (DTA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The diagram for the title system presented in this paper has been compared with that previously published by other authors. As a result of the research, a significant correction of the former phase diagram was made, because it was found that the components of the studied system formed three new chemical compounds.
