One-dimensional metal nanowires offer great potential in printing transparent electrodes for next-generation optoelectronic devices such as flexible displays and flexible solar cells. Printing fine patterns of metal nanowires with widths <100 μm is critical for their practical use in the devices. However, the fine printing of metal nanowires onto polymer substrates remains a major challenge owing to their unintended alignment. This paper reports on a fine-printing method for transparent silver nanowires (AgNWs) electrodes miniaturized to a width of 50 μm on ultrathin (1 μm) polymer substrate, giving a high yield of >90%. In this method, the AgNW dispersion, which is swept by a glass rod, is spontaneously deposited to the hydrophilic areas patterned on a hydrophobic-coated substrate. The alignment and accumulation of AgNWs at the pattern periphery are enhanced by employing a high sweeping rate of >3.2 mm s, improving electrical conductivity and pattern definition. The more aligned and more accumulated AgNWs lower the sheet resistance by a factor of up to 6.8. In addition, a high pattern accuracy ≤ 3.6 μm, which is the deviation from the pattern designs, is achieved. Quantitative analyses are implemented on the nanowire alignment to understand the nanowire geometry. This fine-printing method of the AgNW electrodes will provide great opportunities for realizing flexible and high-performance optoelectronic devices.

Impaired fracture healing in diabetic patients leads to prolonged morbidity and increased healthcare costs. Methylglyoxal (MG), a reactive metabolite elevated in diabetes, is implicated in various complications, but its direct impact on bone healing remains unclear. Here, using a non-diabetic murine tibial fracture model, we demonstrate that MG directly impairs fracture healing.

Article Synopsis
  • PARL is a rhomboid membrane protein essential for mitochondrial function and plays a significant role in oocyte maturation, though its specific effects are not well understood.
  • Inhibiting PARL expression resulted in reduced polar body extrusion and abnormal embryo development, along with negative impacts on mitochondrial activity and increased oxidative stress in porcine oocytes.
  • PARL deficiency also altered the expression of key genes related to mitochondrial function and DNA integrity, emphasizing its critical role in the maturation process of oocytes.

Plastic waste (PW) presents a significant environmental challenge due to its persistent accumulation and harmful effects on ecosystems. According to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), global plastic production in 2024 is estimated to reach approximately 500 million tons. Without effective intervention, most of this plastic is expected to become waste, potentially resulting in billions of tons of accumulated PW by 2060.

Color, an intuitive element affecting human senses, can adapt to the environment of a space, evoke emotional responses, trigger and accumulate visual experiences, and enhance the effectiveness of color in shaping spatial atmosphere and reinforcing spatial divisions. In the context of rapid urban underground space development, examining the rational application of color in underground parking spaces is crucial for improving guidance, comfort, and aesthetics. This exploration is essential for achieving high-quality development in urban underground parking environments.
