Background: Neck pain is common among people with headache, including migraines, tension headache, and cervicogenic headache. Neck pain has also been associated with self-reported sinus headache in individuals who were not formally diagnosed with headache attributed to rhinosinusitis (HAR). Neck pain, in individuals diagnosed with HAR according to the International Classification of Headache Disorders, has not been investigated.

Comparative transcriptomics in serial organs uncovers early and pan-organ developmental changes associated with organ-specific morphological adaptation.

Nat Commun

Laboratoire de Biologie et Modelisation de la Cellule, Ecole Normale Superieure de Lyon, CNRS, UMR 5239, Inserm, U1293, Universite Claude Bernard Lyon 1, 46 allee d'Italie, F-69364, Lyon, France.

Mice have evolved a new dental plan with two additional cusps on the upper molar, while hamsters were retaining the ancestral plan. By comparing the dynamics of molar development with transcriptome time series, we found at least three early changes in mouse upper molar development. Together, they redirect spatio-temporal dynamics to ultimately form two additional cusps.

Global practical tracking control via output feedback for more general nonlinear systems.

ISA Trans

January 2025

School of Electrical Engineering, University of Jinan, Jinan, Shandong 250022, China. Electronic address:

This paper focuses on the issue of global practical tracking control by output feedback for uncertain nonlinear systems with unknown control coefficients and unknown reference signal. Unlike other tracking works, the upper and lower bounds of the unknown control coefficients in the studied nonlinear system are not required to be known, while the nonlinearities are bounded by the unmeasured states multiplying an unknown constant, the polynomial-of-output and the polynomial-of-input. Inspired by related works, an adaptive tracking controller based on a new dynamic high gain has been successfully constructed by combining the universal control idea and the concept of dead-zone with backstepping technique, which effectively handles the impacts of multiple uncertainties.

Dissociating the Roles of Alpha Oscillation Sub-Bands in Visual Working Memory.

Neuroimage

January 2025

Institute of Brain and Psychological Sciences, Sichuan Normal University, 610066 Sichuan, China; Brain and Cognitive Neuroscience Research Center, Liaoning Normal University, 116029 Liaoning, China. Electronic address:

Alpha oscillations play a critical role in visual working memory (VWM), but the specific contributions of lower and upper alpha sub-bands remain unclear. To address this, we employed a whole-field change detection paradigm to investigate how alpha power modulation and decoding accuracy differ between these sub-bands in response to varying set sizes and spatial extents of memory arrays. Our results revealed that lower alpha (8-9 Hz) exhibits widespread event-related desynchronization (ERD) during the early maintenance phase, which increases with set size and reflects attentional allocation to individual memory items.

Spatial Distribution Patterns, Hotspots of Contaminants of Emerging Concern and Driving Factors in a River Network of Xizang Plateau.

Environ Res

January 2025

CAS Key Laboratory of Urban Pollutant Conversion, Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xiamen 361021, China. Electronic address:

This study encompasses the explication of systematic spatial distribution patterns and identification of hotspots of contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) across the network of rivers, including Yarlung Tsangpo River and its tributaries in Xizang Plateau. A total of 16 CECs were detected in wide range of frequencies and concentrations ranging from below limit of detection (BLD) - 163.13 ng/L across the river network, indicating widespread spatial heterogeneity.
