The liver is a unique organ where immunity can be biased toward ineffective response notably in the context of viral infections. Chronic viral hepatitis depends on the inability of the T-cell immune response to eradicate antigen. In the case of recombinant Adeno-Associated-Virus, used for therapeutic gene transfer, conflicting reports describe tolerance induction to different transgene products while other studies have shown conventional cytotoxic CD8 T cell responses with a rapid loss of transgene expression.

Infectious diseases, including bacterial, fungal, and viral, have once again gained urgency in the drug development pipeline after the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Tuberculosis (TB) is an old infectious disease for which eradication has not yet been successful. Novel agents are required to have potential activity against both drug-sensitive and drug-resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), the causative agent of TB.

Antibiotic resistance poses a significant threat to global health, making the development of alternative strategies to combat bacterial pathogens increasingly urgent. One such promising approach is the strategic use of bacteriophages (or phages) to specifically target and eradicate antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Phages, being among the most prevalent life forms on Earth, play a critical role in maintaining ecological balance by regulating bacterial communities and driving genetic diversity.

Introduction: Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is a highly contagious and fatal disease affecting small ruminants, particularly goats and sheep, and is caused by Morbillivirus caprinae, a virus in the genus Morbillivirus, family Paramyxoviridae. PPR has significant economic and social impacts, especially in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, where small ruminants are vital to rural livelihoods and food security. This disease is a priority for global eradication due to its disproportionate impact on low-income farmers and wildlife conservation.
