In this paper, we propose subcarrier allocation based cooperative spectrum sharing protocol for OFDM relaying networks with wireless energy harvesting. In the proposed protocol, the cognitive relay node utilizes different subcarriers to forward the primary information to obtain the spectrum access for the cognitive system transmission. The primary system consists of two parts, a primary transmitter (PT) and primary receiver (PR), and cognitive system includes a cognitive source node (CSN), cognitive destination node (CDN) and cognitive relay node (CRN). In the first phase, CRN splits a fraction of the power received from the PT and CSN transmission to decode information, while the remaining power is used for energy harvesting. Then CRN uses disjoint subcarriers to forward the signals of PT and CSN by utilizing the harvested energy in the second phase. Three parameters which consist of power splitting ratio, power allocation and subcarriers allocation are optimized in our algorithm to maximize the cognitive transmission rate with the constraint of primary target transmission rate. Numerical and simulation results are shown to give useful insights into the proposed cooperative spectrum sharing protocol, and we also found that various system parameters have a great effect for the simulation results.

Background: For patients with small-size colorectal liver metastases, growing evidence suggests thermal ablation to be associated with fewer adverse events and faster recovery than resection while also challenging resection in terms of local control and overall survival. This study assessed the potential non-inferiority of thermal ablation compared with surgical resection in patients with small-size resectable colorectal liver metastases.
Methods: Adult patients (aged ≥18 years) from 14 centres in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Italy with ten or fewer small-size (≤3 cm) colorectal liver metastases, no extrahepatic metastases, and an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 0-2, were stratified per centre, and according to their disease burden, into low, intermediate, and high disease burden subgroups and randomly assigned 1:1 to receive either thermal ablation (experimental group) or surgical resection (control group) of all target colorectal liver metastases using the web-based module Castor electronic data capture with variable block sizes of 4, 6, and 8.

While the highly evolutionarily conserved hypothalamic neuropeptide, oxytocin (OT) can influence cognitive, emotional and social functions, and may have therapeutic potential in disorders with social dysfunction, it is still unclear how it acts. Here, we review the most established findings in both animal model and human studies regarding stimuli which evoke OT release, its primary functional effects and the mechanisms whereby exogenous administration influences brain and behavior. We also review progress on whether OT administration can improve social symptoms in autism spectrum disorder and schizophrenia and consider possible impediments to translational success.

Artificial oxygen carriers have emerged as potential substitutes for red blood cells in situations of major blood loss, including accidents, surgical procedures, trauma, childbirth, stomach ulcers, hemorrhagic shock, and blood vessel ruptures which can lead to sudden reduction in blood volume. The therapeutic delivery of oxygen utilizing artificial oxygen carriers as red blood cell substitutes presents a promising avenue for treating a spectrum of disease models. Apart from that, the recent advancement of artificial oxygen carriers intended to supplant conventional blood transfusions draws significant attention due to the exigencies of warfare and the ongoing challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
