Article Abstract

In this work, a novel magnetic biomass adsorbent was synthesized by a simple method. The adsorbent prepared from chitosan, graphene oxide and CoFe₂O₄ with a 'skin-like' morphology had a strong adsorption capacity for methylene blue adsorption and was easily separated from the liquid. The synthesized samples were characterized by scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive spectroscopy, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffractomer. The adsorption capacity of the adsorbent was evaluated. The various factors affecting the adsorption performance were explored. Meanwhile, the adsorption process was simulated by five kinetic models and four isotherm models. The adsorption process was well described by the Pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the Freundlich isotherm model. Δ < 0, Δ < 0 and Δ < 0 indicate that the adsorption process was a spontaneous, exothermic and randomness decrease process. The adsorbents loaded with methylene blue could be desorbed by soaking in dilute hydrochloric acid. The adsorption-desorption cycle experimental results showed that the adsorbent had good reusability performance.

A bio-fabrication approach is a novel way to develop chitosan-stabilized magnesium oxide nanomaterials (cMgO-NMs). The process involves utilizing polymeric chitosan as the reducing and stabilizing agent. The characteristics of the developed cMgO-NMs were determined using various spectroscopical techniques.

Synovial fistula of the knee occurs when a defect in the joint capsule creates a connection between skin, bursa, and a near tissue, manifesting as an opening with continuous draining fluid or a cyst. This is a case of an 80-year-old male who developed a synovial fistula with cystic presentation 6 years after the primary total knee arthroplasty. Management included a total knee arthroplasty revision surgery with intraoperative identification of the fistula with methylene blue, and using a gelatin-thrombin matrix for closure.

Background: Infertility is a special reproductive health defect. For women, congenital uterine malformations, extensive adhesions in the uterine cavity, and hysterectomy are associated with infertility. Uterine transplantation is technically feasible, but its clinical application and development are limited by donor shortages and immune rejection.

This research successfully synthesized semiconductive magnesioferrite (MgFeO) nanomaterials using a green chemistry method that utilizes the natural extract of Moringa olefeira serving as both a reducing and oxidizing agent. The optical characteristics and crystalline structure of the MgFeO nanomaterials were analysed using photoluminescence, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. Additionally, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy provided valuable insights into the chemical bonding and composition.

Background: Candida albicans is the primary cause of vulvovaginal candidiasis, a worldwide health concern for women. The use of supplemental methods, such as antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) and probiotics, was promoted by the ineffectiveness of the existing antifungal drugs.

Methods: This study examines the combined effects of probiotics (Bacillus and Enterococcus isolated from the fermented pickles) and PDT (using red laser (655 nm, 18 J/cm) as a light source and methylene blue dye (30 mg/mL) as a photosensitizer) on the in vitro virulence activity of C.
