Localized nodular pulmonary amyloidosis can form pulmonary nodules associated with cystic air spaces, but due to its rarity, it cannot be included in the differential diagnosis without appropriate knowledge. Among the differential diagnoses of nodules with cysts in the lungs is primary lung cancer, however, diagnosis based solely on imaging findings is challenging. A 59-year-old Japanese female was referred to our hospital for an abnormality noted on the chest radiograph of an annual health check.

A deadly embrace occurs between cancer and chronic kidney disease. The estimation of kidney function in cancer patients is of utmost interest due to its direct impact on chemotherapy dosing, selection, and eligibility for chemotherapeutics. Overestimating kidney function (determined as estimated glomerular filtration rate -eGFR) can lead to overdosing and drug toxicity, while underestimating kidney function can prevent patients from receiving novel therapies.

Masquerade syndromes represent a large set of ophthalmological entities that mimic inflammatory conditions. Any delay in their diagnosis may be correlated with systemic dissemination or worsening of the causal disease and, therefore, with poor prognosis. One of the disadvantages of the new potent treatments of uveitis is the delay that they can induce in the diagnosis of neoplastic intraocular infiltrations.
