Supporting Spiritual Care With the Saline Process™.

J Christ Nurs

June 2024

Carol Rowley, PhD, RN , has served as Nurses Christian Fellowship International's (NCFI) Global Saline Coordinator since 2019. In this capacity, she has had the opportunity to share the Saline Process with Christian nurses in many nations.

Living one's Christian faith and providing appropriate spiritual care in professional nursing practice can seem challenging. The IHS Global® Saline Process™ course equips Christian healthcare workers with knowledge and tools to provide appropriate spiritual support and consider how God is calling them to share his truth and love. After participating in a Saline Process™ course, ongoing engagement helps clinicians grow in practicing what they have learned.

Intuitive regression control of prostheses relies on training algorithms to correlate biological recordings to motor intent. The quality of the training dataset is critical to run-time regression performance, but accurately labeling intended hand kinematics after hand amputation is challenging. In this study, we quantified the accuracy and precision of labeling hand kinematics using two common training paradigms: 1) mimic training, where participants mimic predetermined motions of a prosthesis, and 2) mirror training, where participants mirror their contralateral intact hand during synchronized bilateral movements.

Interpreting single-cell messages in normal and aberrant hematopoiesis with the Cell Marker Accordion.

bioRxiv

March 2024

Laboratory of RNA and Disease Data Science, Department of Cellular, Computational and Integrative Biology (CIBIO), University of Trento, Trento, Italy.

Single-cell technologies offer a unique opportunity to explore cellular heterogeneity in hematopoiesis, reveal malignant hematopoietic cells with clinically significant features and measure gene signatures linked to pathological pathways. However, reliable identification of cell types is a crucial bottleneck in single-cell analysis. Available databases contain dissimilar nomenclature and non-concurrent marker sets, leading to inconsistent annotations and poor interpretability.

This paper presents a novel conceptualization of a type of untruthful speech that is of eminent political relevance but has hitherto been unrecognized: epistemically exploitative bullshit (EEB). Speakers engaging in EEB are bullshitting: they deceive their addressee regarding their unconcern for the very difference between truth and falsity. At the same time, they exploit their discursive victims: they oblige their counterparts to perform unacknowledged and emotionally draining epistemic work to educate the speakers about the addressees' oppression, only to discredit their epistemic trustworthiness.

Deep neural networks are very successful on many vision tasks, but hard to interpret due to their black box nature. To overcome this, various post-hoc attribution methods have been proposed to identify image regions most influential to the models' decisions. Evaluating such methods is challenging since no ground truth attributions exist.
