: Oropharyngeal dysphagia is a common swallowing disorder, characterized by difficulties in moving food and liquids from the mouth to the esophagus; it is particularly prevalent among older adults with neurological conditions. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a short-term complex treatment protocol combining dietary modifications, swallowing exercises, and transcutaneous neuromuscular electrostimulation in reducing the oropharyngeal dysphagia severity and aspiration risk among geriatric patients. : A total of 64 participants aged 60 and older, with oropharyngeal dysphagia, at LSMU Kaunas Hospital between May 2021 and April 2023, were included in the study after excluding those with significant comorbidities.

Three-dimensional (3D) cardiomyocyte spheroids are essential models to replicate cardiac structural and functional features in vitro. However, conventional planar and rigid microelectrode arrays (MEAs) suffer from low-quality electrophysiological recording of 3D cultures, due to limited contact areas and weak coupling between cells and MEA chips. Herein, we developed a PEDOT: PSS-modified organic flexible and implantable MEA (OFI-MEA) coupled with a self-developed integrated biosensing platform to achieve high-throughput, long-term, and stable bidirectional internal electrophysiology in 3D cardiomyocyte spheroids.

Background: The coronary sinus reducer (CSR) is a therapeutic option for patients with coronary artery disease who are not eligible for further revascularization and experience refractory angina. Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) improves symptoms and prognosis in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, but the presence of a CSR may complicate left ventricular lead placement. Only four cases have been reported so far in this context.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease caused by abnormal activation and immune system disorder. Despite the availability of several treatments, they only provide temporary relief, and there is a critical need for more effective therapies to manage this condition. Electrostimulation has been widely used as a physical stimulus in treating various diseases, and recent studies have shown its potential in psoriasis treatment.

Neural electrostimulation has enabled different therapies to treat a number of health problems. For example, the cochlear implant allows for recovering the hearing function and deep brain electrostimulation has been proved to reduce tremor in Parkinson's disease. Other approaches such as retinal prostheses are progressing rapidly, as researchers continue to investigate new strategies to activate targeted neurons more precisely.
