The development of a broadly applicable procedure for the aza-Lossen rearrangement is reported. This process converts amines into complex hydrazine derivatives in two steps under safe, mild conditions. This method allows the chemoselective formation of N-N bonds, resulting in the synthesis of cyclic and acyclic products while avoiding side reactions of the amphoteric (ambident) nitrogen-substituted isocyanate intermediate.

-Tosyl Hydrazone Benzopyran, a New Ligand of PPARα Obtained from Mapping the Conformational Space of Its Active Site.

We report here a new ligand for the peroxisome-proliferator-activated receptor type α (PPARα), an N-tosyl hydrazone benzopyran that was designed throughout the mapping of the polar zone of the binding site of PPARα; such a compound displays a strong activity on this receptor that is comparable to that of the reference compound WY-14643. For the design of the -tosyl hydrazone benzopyran, we have carried out an exhaustive conformational study of WY-14643 and a previously reported hydrazine benzopyran derivative using conformational potential energy surfaces (PES). This study allowed us to map in a systematic way the entire binding site of the PPARα.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) has long proven to be a complex neurodegenerative disorder, with cholinergic dysfunction, oxidative stress, and neuroinflammation being just a few of its pathological features. The complexity of the disease requires a multitargeted treatment covering its many aspects. In the present investigation, an arylhydrazone derivative of 5-methoxyindole-2-carboxylic acid (5MeO), with in vitro strong antioxidant, neuroprotective and monoamine oxidase B-inhibiting effects, was studied in a scopolamine-induced Alzheimer-type dementia in rats.

New metal complexes of 1H-benzimidazole-2-yl hydrazones: Cytostatic, proapoptotic and modulatory activity on kinase signaling pathways.

The copper complexes of two 1H-benzimidazole-2-yl hydrazones were obtained by complexation with copper chloride. The molecular structure of the complexes was studied by microchemical analysis, SEM-EDX, IR and micro-Raman spectroscopy and DFT calculations. It was found that both ligands form 1:1 complexes with the copper, where the Cu ions are coordinated by N-atom from the benzimidazole ring, N-atom of the azomethine bond, O-atom from the ortho-OH group of the aromatic ring and one chlorine atom.

Electronic address:

A new nanopolypropylene (PP) surface molecularly imprinted polyacrylamide (PP@MIP) probe was synthesized facilely for the Resonance Rayleigh Scattering (RRS) determination of trace sulfadiazine (SDZ), using PP as nanosubstrate, SDZ as template molecule, and the acrylamide as functional monomer. The catalytic effect of PP@MIP on the reduction of HAuCl by hydrazine hydrate to form AuNP, a nano-indicated reaction, was investigated. The generated AuNPs had a strong RRS effect, and the addition of SDZ resulted in the selective formation of PP@MIP-SDZ complex, which further promoted the generation of AuNP and increased the RRS signal.
