AI Article Synopsis

  • The complete mitochondrial genome of a newly studied organism has been sequenced, revealing it is circular and 14,011 base pairs long, containing 37 genes (13 protein coding, 2 rRNA, and 22 tRNA).
  • Phylogenetic analysis of the amino acid sequences from its protein coding genes shows that this organism is distinct from other closely related species in the Trichuridae family.
  • The findings provide new molecular data that can be used as genetic markers for further research in diagnostics, systematics, population genetics, and epidemiology related to this organism.

Article Abstract

The complete mitochondrial (mt) genome of has been determined in the current study and subsequently compared with closely related species by phylogenetic analysis based on concatenated datasets of mt amino acid sequences. The whole mt genome of is circular and 14,011 bp in length. It consists of a total of 37 genes including 13 protein coding genes (PCGs), two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, 22 transfer RNA (tRNAs) genes, and two non-coding regions. The gene arrangement and contents were consistent with other members of the Trichuridae family including , , and . Phylogenetic analysis based on concatenated datasets of amino acids of the 12 PCGs predicted the distinctiveness of as compared to other members of the Trichuridae family. Overall, our study supports the hypothesis that is a distinct species. The provision of molecular data of whole mt genome of delivers novel genetic markers for future studies of diagnostics, systematics, population genetics, and molecular epidemiology of

Previously, our metabolomic, transcriptomic, and genomic studies characterized the ceramide/sphingomyelin pathway as a therapeutic target in Alzheimer's disease, and we demonstrated that FTY720, a sphingosine-1-phospahate receptor modulator approved for treatment of multiple sclerosis, recovers synaptic plasticity and memory in APP/PS1 mice. To further investigate how FTY720 rescues the pathology, we performed metabolomic analysis in brain, plasma, and liver of trained APP/PS1 and wild-type mice. APP/PS1 mice showed area-specific brain disturbances in polyamines, phospholipids, and sphingolipids.

Background: Mitochondrial genes are involved in tumor metabolism in ovarian cancer (OC) and affect immune cell infiltration and treatment responses.

Aim: To predict prognosis and immunotherapy response in patients diagnosed with OC using mitochondrial genes and neural networks.

Methods: Prognosis, immunotherapy efficacy, and next-generation sequencing data of patients with OC were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Omnibus.

We present a novel mitogenome assembly of the Redlip Shiner, , and assemblies for the Greenhead Shiner, (Cypriniformes: Leuciscidae). Both are charismatic minnows in the taxonomic group and are endemic to the eastern United States. The genome contains 16,711bp and 16,706bp each comprising a total of 13 protein coding genes, 22 tRNAs, two rRNAs, and a control region.
