AI Article Synopsis

  • Two new nitrogen-containing metabolites and two new natural products were isolated from the rice false smut pathogen UV-8b cultured in solid rice medium.
  • The structures of these compounds were identified using spectroscopic analysis and comparisons with existing literature.
  • While the metabolites showed weak antibacterial activity, two specific compounds inhibited the growth of rice seed radicles.

Article Abstract

Two new nitrogen-containing metabolites methyl -acetyl--(4-acetylphenyl)--homoserinate (), dimethyl (1-indole-3-carbonyl)--glutamate (), and two new natural products, 1,2--isopropylidene--mannitol (), -acetyl--methyl--phenylalanine (), along with five known compounds (-) were isolated from the rice false smut pathogen UV-8b cultured in the solid rice medium. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and by comparison of their physical and spectroscopic data with the literature. These metabolites were evaluated for their antibacterial and phytotoxic activities. Compounds - showed weak inhibition against the tested bacteria, while compounds - and displayed inhibitory activity against the radicle elongation of rice seeds.
