Climate change-induced rise in sea surface temperatures has led to an increase in the frequency and severity of coral bleaching events, ultimately leading to the deterioration of coral reefs, globally. However, the reef-building corals have an inherent capacity to acclimatize to thermal stress on pre-exposure to high temperatures by altering their endosymbiotic Symbiodiniaceae community composition towards a thermal tolerant composition. This reorganisation may become an important tool in coral's resilience to rapid environmental change.

Cell-based test methods with a phenotypic readout are frequently used for toxicity screening. However, guidance on how to validate the hits and how to integrate this information with other data for purposes of risk assessment is missing. We present here such a procedure and exemplify it with a case study on neural crest cell (NCC)-based developmental toxicity of picoxystrobin.

According to sparse information from various countries, the seasonal influenza virus circulation has drastically decreased during the COVID-19 pandemic. Here, we show the cross-reactivity of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies against influenza viruses. Plasma samples were collected from 311 SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals.

Unlabelled: Lenacapavir (LEN) is the first in class viral capsid protein (CA) targeting antiretroviral for treating multi-drug-resistant HIV-1 infection. Clinical trials and cell culture experiments have identified resistance associated mutations (RAMs) in the vicinity of the hydrophobic CA pocket targeted by LEN. The M66I substitution conferred by far the highest level of resistance to the inhibitor compared to other RAMs.

Background: A next-generation, serum-free, highly purified Vero cell rabies vaccine, PVRV-NG2, is in development.

Methods: This multicenter, observer-blind, phase 3 study evaluated the immunogenicity and safety of PVRV-NG2, compared with two licensed rabies vaccines (purified Vero cell rabies vaccine [PVRV] and human diploid cell vaccine [HDCV]), as a pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) regimen. Participants were randomized 3:1:1 to PVRV-NG2, PVRV, or HDCV, as a three-dose (Cohort 1; children and adults; day [D] 0, D7, and D28) or two-dose (Cohort 2; adults; D0 and D7) PrEP regimen.
