Conventional personal health record (PHR) management systems are centralized, making them vulnerable to privacy breaches and single points of failure. Despite progress in standardizing healthcare data with the FHIR format, hospitals often lack efficient platforms for transferring PHRs, leading to redundant tests and delayed treatments. To address these challenges, we propose a decentralized PHR management system leveraging Personal Data Stores (PDS) and Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) in line with the Web 3.

Molecular Epidemiology of Type F Among Diarrheal Patients and Virulence-Resistance Dynamics - 11 Provinces, China, 2024.

China CDC Wkly

January 2025

Department of Clinical Laboratory, The Second Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, China.

Introduction: Type F () represents a significant pathogen in human gastrointestinal diseases, primarily through its gene encoding enterotoxin (CPE). This investigation examined the prevalence, antimicrobial resistance patterns, and genetic characteristics of Type F within the Chinese population.

Methods: The study analyzed 2,068 stool samples collected from 11 provincial hospitals in 2024.

Cardiovascular complications in chronic active Epstein-Barr virus disease: a case report and literature review.

Front Pediatr

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Birth Defects and Related Diseases of Women and Children of Ministry of Education (MOE), West China Institute of Women and Children's Health, Key Laboratory of Development and Diseases of Women and Children of Sichuan Province, Department of Pediatrics, Department of Pediatric Cardiology, West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Background: Cardiovascular involvement is a rare but severe complication of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infections. Patients with chronic active EBV (CAEBV) are at increased risk of developing cardiovascular complications and have a poor prognosis. Here, we report the rare case of a pediatric patient with CAEBV and EBV- hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) complicated with a giant coronary artery aneurysm (CAA) and thrombosis, a giant Valsalva sinus aneurysm, and ascending aorta dilation seven years after the disease onset.

Prediction-powered inference (PPI) [1] and its subsequent development called PPI++ [2] provide a novel approach to standard statistical estimation leveraging machine learning systems to enhance unlabeled data with predictions. We use this paradigm in clinical trials. The predictions are provided by disease progression models, providing prognostic scores for all the participants as a function of baseline covariates.

Evaluation of charge summing correction in CdTe-based photon-counting detectors for breast CT: performance metrics and image quality.

J Med Imaging (Bellingham)

January 2025

U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Office of Science and Engineering Labs, Division of Imaging, Diagnostics, and Software Reliability, Silver Spring, Maryland, United States.

Purpose: We evaluate the impact of charge summing correction on a cadmium telluride (CdTe)-based photon-counting detector in breast computed tomography (CT).

Approach: We employ a custom-built laboratory benchtop system using the X-THOR FX30 0.75-mm CdTe detector (Varex Imaging, Salt Lake City, Utah, United States) with a pixel pitch of 0.
