Particulate matter (PM) pollution poses a serious threat to the environment and public health. Capture of PM is best performed at the emission source, such as car exhaust exit points, although it is a challenge for filters to work under harsh conditions of high temperatures and flow rate. Here we designed a thermally stable PM filter by in situ anchoring of zeolite imidazole framework-8 (ZIF-8) on a three-dimensional (3D) network of reduced graphene oxide aerogel (rGA) through natural drying. Owing to high specific surface area, well-connected porous network of graphene aerogel, and large number of metal sites from ZIF-8/rGA, the capture efficiencies for PM and PM are over 99.3% and 99.6%, respectively, at ambient conditions, and the efficiencies remain high in harsh conditions (PM and PM: >98.8% and >99.1%, respectively, at 200°C at a flow velocity of 30 L/min). The filter can be regenerated by a simple washing process.

Triazole, a nitrogen-containing five-membered heterocycle with two isomeric forms, 1,2,3-triazole and 1,2,4-triazole, has proven to be a valuable component in the pharmaceutical domain. Owing to its widespread utility in drug development, pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry, several synthetic methods have been explored, such as different catalytic systems, solvents, and heating methodologies in recent years. However, some methods were associated with several limitations, such as harsh reaction conditions, high temperatures, low atom economy, and long reaction times.

Essential oils application as natural preservatives is challenging owning to low solubility and stability to harsh conditions, while incorporation of essential oils into nanoemulsion systems can effectively improve these issues. Therefore, the nanoemulsion of () and cardamom essential oils were fabricated through self-emulsification technique and evaluated their size, ζ-potential, antioxidative and antibacterial activities. The effect of double nanomulsion on the textural and sensorial properties of Mortadella sausage was also examined under chilling temperature (4 °C).

brown seaweed () is reported to exhibit several biological activities that promote human health, but it does not have the ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions, such as high temperatures and oxygen exposure. Encapsulation of extraction through different techniques is known to, optimize physicochemical properties, biological activities, maintain stability, and is an effective way to improve the shelf life of different foods. In the present study, the encapsulation of SIE was carried out by the freeze-drying method using maltodextrin, whey protein isolate (WPI), and chitosan.

Nitrogen heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) are emerging as effective substitutes for conventional thiol ligands in surface functionalization of nanoparticles (NPs), offering exceptional stability to NPs under harsh conditions. However, the highly reactive feature of NHCs limits their use in introducing chemically active groups onto the NP surface. Herein, we develop a general yet robust strategy for the efficient surface functionalization of NPs with copolymer ligands bearing various functional groups.

Carbon monoxide (CO) oxidising microorganisms are present in volcanic deposits throughout succession, with levels of vegetation and soil influencing the communities present. Carboxydovores are a subset of CO oxidisers that use CO as an energy source, which raises questions about the physiological and metabolic features that make them more competitive in harsh volcanic ecosystems. To address these questions, samples were taken from volcanic strata formed by eruptions from Calbuco Volcano (Chile) in 2015 (tephra) and 1917 (soil).
