The absence of precise landmarks in the middle fossa floor and frequent anatomical variations make it difficult to localize the internal acoustic canal (IAC) during the middle fossa approach (MFA). We aimed to investigate the reliability and utility of the neuronavigation system (NNS) in the MFA and to delineate specific technical considerations regarding NNS during the approach. One-millimeter-thin section computed tomography scans were performed on five formalin-fixed human cadavers (10 sides).

To enhance the safety of coal mining operations and improve the efficiency of gas extraction, hydraulic flushing technology has been widely used in low permeability coal seams. This study aims to investigate the mechanism of hydraulic flushing by conducting experiments focusing on four aspects: sample strength, punching pressure, punching position and vibration direction. The results show that an increase in hydraulic flushing pressure leads to a deeper impact groove, whereas higher sample strength results in a shallower groove.

Seed germination is a crucial stage in plant development, intricately regulated by various environmental stimuli. Understanding these interactions is essential for optimizing planting and seedling management but remains challenging due to the trade-off effects of environmental factors on the germination process. We proposed a new conceptual model by viewing seed germination as a dynamic process in a physiological dimension, with the influence of environmental factors and seed heterogeneity characterized by a germination speed and a dispersion coefficient.

Wetland methane emissions are the primary natural contributor to the global methane budget, accounting for approximately one-third of total emissions from natural and anthropogenic sources. Anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM) serves as the major sink of methane in anoxic wetland sediments, where electron acceptors are present, thereby effectively mitigating its emissions. Nevertheless, environmental controls on electron acceptors, in particular, the ubiquitous iron oxides, involved in AOM are poorly understood.

Enhancing the energy of hydrogen and carbon reservoirs is crucial for the extraction of these resources. Currently, the conventional water-flooding technology faces challenges in replenishing the energy of hydrogen and carbon reservoirs due to the low injection rates caused by their low-permeability properties. To address this, hydraulic fracturing-assisted water injection technology has been employed to enhance the energy of these reservoirs.
