A series of alkyl thioglycosides and alkyl thiodiglycosides bearing glucose and -acetylglucosamine residues were prepared by thiol-ene coupling in moderate to good yields (40-85%). Their binding ability towards wheat germ agglutinin was measured by competitive enzyme-linked lectin assays. One of the synthetic compounds presenting two GlcNAc units showed the highest inhibitory effect of this study with an IC of 11 µM corresponding to a 3182-fold improvement compared to GlcNAc. These synthetic molecules were used to produce giant vesicles, alone or in mixture with phospholipids, mimicking bacterial outer membrane vesicles (OMV) with potential antiadhesive properties.

The Acinetobacter baumannii is a member of the "ESKAPE" bacteria responsible for many serious multidrug-resistant (MDR) illnesses. This bacteria swiftly adapts to environmental cues leading to the emergence of multidrug-resistant variants, particularly in hospital/medical settings. In this work, we have demonstrated the outer membrane protein 33-36 (Omp33-36) porin as a potential therapeutic target in A.

: Since 2008, following clinical studies conducted on children that revealed the ability of the β-adrenergic antagonist propranolol to inhibit capillary growth in infantile hemangiomas (IHs), its oral administration has become the first-line treatment for IHs. Although oral propranolol therapy at a dosage of 3 mg/kg/die is effective, it can cause systemic adverse reactions. This therapy is not necessarily applicable to all patients.

Outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) are double-layered structures of nanoscale lipids released by gram-negative bacteria. They have the same membrane composition and characteristics as primitive cells, which enables them to penetrate cells and tissues efficiently. These OMVs exhibit excellent membrane stability, immunogenicity, safety, and permeability (which makes it easier for them to penetrate into tumour tissue), making them suitable for developing cancer vaccines and drug delivery systems.

Daytime radiative cooling, based on selective infrared emissions through atmospheric transparency windows to outer space and the reflection of solar irradiance, is a zero-energy and environmentally friendly cooling technology. Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) electrospun membranes have both selective mid-infrared emissions and effective sunlight reflection, inducing excellent daytime radiative cooling performance. However, PEO is highly water soluble, which makes electrospun PEO membranes unable to cope with rainy conditions when used for outdoor daytime radiative cooling.

is a Gram-negative bacterium and human pathogen that is linked to various gastric diseases, including peptic ulcer disease, chronic gastritis, and gastric cancer. The filament of the flagellum is surrounded by a membranous sheath that is contiguous with the outer membrane. Proteomic analysis of isolated sheathed flagella from B128 identified the lipoprotein HP0135 as a potential component of the flagellar sheath.
