Background: The party drug gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB) is highly addictive. GHB use disorder (GUD) has poor treatment outcome, with relapse rates over 60% within 3 months after detoxification. In order to get a better understanding of the limited treatment success, we explored GUD patients' illness perceptions and treatment needs.
Methods: In a qualitative cross-sectional observational study, using a semi-structured interview based on the works of Kleinmann, illness perceptions were explored among treatment seeking GUD patients (n = 20). The analysis was based on the principles of Grounded Theory by the 2 interviewers and an independent researcher.
Results: GUD patients had mainly positive views toward GHB. GHB was perceived as strongly rewarding and perceived as the solution to psychosocial problems, rather than the cause. After repeated readmissions, GUD patients perceived themselves as addicted to GHB and GHB use as more problematic. They reported a need for personalized treatment goals, which were mainly aimed toward dealing with psychiatric symptoms and social reintegration.
Conclusion: GUD shares many characteristics with other substance use disorders, in line with gradual development from positive reinforcement in early-stage GUD to negative reinforcement in later stages of more compulsive GHB use. Future studies should investigate whether personalization of treatment goals, such as social reintegration, lead to better treatment outcomes.

Objective: To analyze the influencing factors of male cutaneous melanoma (CM) patients dying from genitourinary diseases (GUD).
Methods: We searched the surveillance, epidemiology, and end results (SEER) database and extracted data on male CM patients according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, including male patients whose cause of death was CM (cohort A) or GUD (cohort B). Comparisons between the two cohorts were performed before and after propensity score matching (PSM).

Background: This case report presents a novel solution for treating a perianal abscess in a 45-year-old female patient with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus. The patient experienced severe pain, exhaustion, rectal discharge, and fever, and was treated with incision and drainage, followed by Udumbar Ksheer Pichu application and complementary therapy with antibiotic, analgesic, and antihyperglycemic medication. This case illustrates the potential benefits of integrating Ayurvedic principles, such as Udumbar Ksheer Pichu, with conventional medical treatments to effectively manage perianal abscesses in high-risk patients.

Introduction: Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are a major cause of long-term disability. Urethral discharge syndrome (UDS), abnormal vaginal discharge (AVD) and genital ulcer disease (GUD) are very common in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), where, due to lack of resources, these infections are managed according to a syndromic approach. Although microbiological diagnosis using nuclear acid amplification tests (NAAT) is already a standard to prescribe targeted treatments in industrialised countries, no randomised clinical trials have been conducted to evaluate clinical usefulness and acceptability of NAAT in comparison with syndromic approach in LMICs.

Background: Genital ulcer disease (GUD) is regarded as the most difficult conundrum for clinicians, as valid and rapid methods to diagnose them are limited, especially in India. The sexual behavior of an individual plays a role in the causation of GUD, and it depends on psychological, behavioral, and social well-being, which was significantly affected during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, the present study was undertaken to determine the etiology of genital ulcers by using simple, rapid microbiological methods and to study various factors associated with them.

Introduction: After 5 years experience with the GUD (glandular urethral disassembly) technique for distal hypospadias, we present the GUDplay technique, incorporating Thiersch-Duplay tubularization of the plate till the coronal area, disassembling the glans aggressively and refurbishing the glans.
Methods: We defined the urethral plate and designed an inverted Y incision to open the glans in two wings. The glans was entirely detached from the corpora to gain a great mobility that allowed minor cranial mobilization of the urethra and caudal rotation of the wings.
