The aim of this study was to elucidate the impact of porcine pancreatic enzymes (Creon pancrelipase) in comparison to microbial-derived alpha amylase (MD amylase) on the small intestine wall structure, mucosal glycogen accumulation, and enterocyte turnover. The impact of enzyme supplementation on the small intestine was explored in 18 pigs with surgically induced exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI). Four healthy pigs served as the control group.

Introduction: Bezoars are an accumulation of human or vegetable fibers in the gastrointestinal tract which if extend to the small intestine are referred to as Rapunzel syndrome. They are primarily a psychiatric issue rather than a surgical condition and are associated with trichotillomania, with subsequent trichophagia, pica, and other psychiatric conditions usually seen in adolescent females. This case report describes an extremely rare diagnosis of Rapunzel syndrome in a 4-year-old female.

Background: Small intestinal obstruction (SIO) is a blockage of the intestinal lumen by blunt foreign bodies, neoplasms originating from the intestinal wall or thick chyme. This study analysed the medical records (only data) of 110 cattle with SIO and described the clinical findings, treatment and outcome. These findings were compared between surviving and non-surviving cattle, and among the affected regions such as the duodenum, jejunum and ileum.
