Background: Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) is one of the most common nervous system diseases. Hypertension and neuroinflammation are considered important risk factors for the development of CSVD and white matter (WM) lesions.
Method: We used the spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR) as a model of early-onset CSVD and administered epimedium flavonoids (EF) for three months.
Background: Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder whose pathological hallmarks include tau and amyloid beta aggregation, a phenomenon that has been linked to inflammation and degradation of brain tissue. Prior data published in the Wang lab suggests that carbon dots (CDs) synthesized from citric acid and urea can inhibit aggregation. We sought to characterize the inhibitory effects of a new class of CDs synthesized from varied ratios of Congo red and citric acid.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is increasingly recognized for its link to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), though the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Histone lysine demethylase 6B (KDM6B) may either prevent or promote organ fibrosis, but its specific role in IPF is yet to be clarified. This study aimed to investigate the function and mechanisms of KDM6B in IPF and the exacerbating effects of OSA.

Doublecortin-like kinase 1 (DCLK1) has been revealed to be involved in modulating cancer stemness and tumor progression, but its role in prostate cancer (PCa) remains obscure. Castration-resistant and metastatic PCa exhibit aggressive behaviors, and current therapeutic approaches have shown limited beneficial effects on the overall survival rate of patients with advanced PCa. This study aimed to investigate the biological role and potential molecular mechanism of DCLK1 in the progression of PCa.

Most tumors initially respond to treatment, yet refractory clones subsequently develop owing to resistance mechanisms associated with cancer cell plasticity and heterogeneity. We used a chemical biology approach to identify protein targets in cancer cells exhibiting diverse driver mutations and representing models of tumor lineage plasticity and therapy resistance. An unbiased screen of a drug library was performed against cancer cells followed by synthesis of chemical analogs of the most effective drug.
