The presence of CD30 cells in cutaneous lymphomas has come to prominence in recent years as a potential diagnostic and therapeutic marker. In primary cutaneous marginal zone B-cell lymphomas, the presence of large CD30 cells with Hodgkin-like features and their significance have not yet been studied. Here we describe the main clinical, histologic, immunophenotypic, and molecular characteristics of 13 cases of primary cutaneous marginal zone lymphomas featuring >10% of CD30 large cells, and analyze their relationship with histologic and clinical progression of the disease and with other morphologic and immunophenotypic features. We report 10 male and 3 female patients, 4 with early-local disease and 8 with locoregional advanced disease without extracutaneous involvement but with a high relapse rate of 69%. We describe an association between a high level of CD30 expression and disease progression, with increased clinical recurrence in cases with >15% of CD30 cells. We also discuss the differential diagnosis with other cutaneous and systemic lymphomas, especially Hodgkin lymphoma.

Background: Patients with haematologic malignancies are at increased risk of developing skin cancer and often experience worse skin cancer-related outcomes. However, there is a lack of nationwide, population-based data with long-term follow-up on the incidence and risks of different skin cancer types across all haematologic malignancies.

Background: There is a need to improve risk stratification of primary cutaneous melanomas to better guide adjuvant therapy. Taking into account that haematoxylin and eosin (HE)-stained tumour tissue contains a huge amount of clinically unexploited morphological informations, we developed a weakly-supervised deep-learning approach, SmartProg-MEL, to predict survival outcomes in stages I to III melanoma patients from HE-stained whole slide image (WSI).
Methods: We designed a deep neural network that extracts morphological features from WSI to predict 5-y overall survival (OS), and assign a survival risk score to each patient.

Methotrexate (MTX), an antimetabolite targeting certain autoimmune conditions and various hematologic malignancies, has been associated with iatrogenic lymphoproliferative disease (LPD) primarily of B-cell lineage. Less commonly are T-cell neoplasms where primary skin involvement is considered rare. Three cases were encountered in the medical practice of one of the authors.

Background: Dermatophytes, the primary causative agents of superficial cutaneous fungal infections in humans, present a significant therapeutic challenge owing to the increasing prevalence of recurrent infections and the emergence of antifungal resistance. To address this critical gap, this study was designed to investigate the antifungal potential of 3-benzylideneindolin-2-one against dermatophytes and assess its in vivo toxicological profile using brine shrimp and zebrafish embryo models.
Methods: The antifungal activity of 3-benzylideneindolin-2-one was evaluated against 30 clinical isolates of dermatophyte species, including Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton rubrum, Microsporum gypseum, Microsporum canis, and Epidermophyton floccosum, by determining the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum fungicidal concentration (MFC) using the broth microdilution method.
