This paper investigates the resilient control problem for cyber-physical systems (CPSs) with multiple transmission channels under denial-of-service (DoS). First, a set of partial observers is designed to estimate partial states corresponding to different channels. Second, by combining the proposed partial observers, the finite-time observer technique and a switching scheme, a modified finite-time partial observer-based controller is proposed to stabilize the system in the presence of DoS. Compared with the existing results for the CPSs with multiple transmission channels, the computational burden of designing observer-based controller is reduced, and the resilience against DoS is improved by adopting the proposed finite-time partial observers. Especially, besides stability, the proposed resilient observer-based controller also provides better disturbance rejection performance.

Background: With the decline in malaria transmission due to global efforts, a more sensitive tool is needed to monitor transmission intensity and pattern at the micro-level. Though transmission in a broader area may be similar, factors such as sanitation, practices of open water storage, early morning and evening activities, outdoor sleeping and agricultural practices within communities could cause differences in exposure and thus transmission. This study thus probed malaria transmission at a micro-level using serology in the Hohoe Municipality of Ghana.

We aimed to understand to what extent knowledge of the prevalence of one sexually transmitted infection (STI) can predict the prevalence of another STI, with application for men who have sex with men (MSM). An individual-based simulation model was used to study the concurrent transmission of HIV, HSV-2, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis in MSM sexual networks. Using the model outputs, 15 multiple linear regression models were conducted for each STI prevalence, treating the prevalence of each as the dependent variable and the prevalences of up to four other STIs as independent variables in various combinations.

Introduction: This study aimed to understand the origin and to explain the maintenance of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) isolated from food-producing animals in a third-generation cephalosporin (3GC)-free farm.
Methods: Culture and molecular approaches were used to test molecules other than 3GC such as antibiotics (tetracycline and oxytetracycline), antiparasitics (ivermectin, flumethrin, fenbendazol, and amitraz), heavy metal [arsenic, HNO, aluminum, HNO, cadmium (CdSO), zinc (ZnCl), copper (CuSO), iron (FeCl), and aluminum (AlSO)], and antioxidant (butylated hydroxytoluene) as sources of selective pressure. Whole-genome sequencing using short read (Illumina™) and long read (Nanopore™) technologies was performed on 34 genomes.
We present a non-interferometric technique for quantitative phase imaging (QPI) that is cost-effective, easily integrated into standard microscopes, and capable of wide-field imaging with noncoherent light. Our method measures the phase gradient through optical differentiation using spatially variable amplitude filters, accommodating a range of transmission functions, including commercially available variable neutral-density filters. This flexibility is made possible by a general relationship we derive.
