Introduction: For patients with acute intermittent porphyria (AIP), a true attack could be difficult to distinguish from chronic abdominal pain. This study focused on treatment responses from two patients with confirmed elevated biochemical data (delta-aminolevulinic acid (ALA), porphobilinogen (PBG)) and clinical evidence for acute attacks before starting givosiran.
Methods: Data from patients who participated in the phase III givosiran trial in Taiwan between May 2018 and May 2021 were reviewed.

5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA)-induced protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) fluorescence shows high sensitivity in detecting the tumor core of high-grade gliomas (HGG) but poor sensitivity for tissue of low-grade gliomas (LGG) and the margins of HGG. The characteristic emission peak for PpIX is known to be located at 635 nm. Recently, a second emission peak was described at 620 nm wavelength in LGG and the tumor infiltration zone of HGG.

: The standard recommendation for patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer is 5-aminolevulinic acid-mediated photodynamic diagnosis. The intensity of the fluorescence caused by the intracellular accumulation of protoporphyrin IX (PPIX) varies among tumors and patients. This study investigated the circadian rhythm of intracellular PPIX accumulation in bladder urothelial cancer cells exposed to 5-aminolevulinic acid.

Introduction: Acne vulgaris is a highly prevalent skin disorder, driving the ongoing search for innovative treatment modalities. While numerous studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of photodynamic therapy (PDT) in managing acne vulgaris, there remains a lack of clear guidlines regarding optimal treatment parameters.
Aim: To assess the efficacy and safety of 10% concentration 5-aminolevulinic acid-(ALA) in comparison to 15% ALA PDT for treating facial acne vulgaris.
