Despite recent successes in preparing three-dimensional crystals of empty fullerenes, such as C and C , 3D endohedral fullerene crystals, and especially hollow nanostructures, have been scarcely reported. A universal approach has now been developed to prepare shape-tunable 3D crystals of several metal nitride clusterfullerenes, including cubes and dice (hollow cubes with holes at the center of each face), which can be readily switched by changing the volume ratio of good (mesitylene) and poor (isopropanol) solvents. Synchrotron-based soft X-ray nano-computed tomography was used to unambiguously identify the interior microstructure of the dice-shaped crystals of Tb N@C , and especially the depth of the hole at each face, confirming that the dice has a solid center and the holes are not interconnected. Owing to the enhanced light absorption, the dice-shaped crystals exhibit enhanced photoluminescence relative to that of the cubes.

Purpose: Although structural OCT is traditionally used to differentiate the vascular plexus layers in OCT angiography (OCTA), the vascular plexuses do not always obey the retinal laminations. We sought to segment the superficial, deep, and avascular plexuses from OCTA images using deep learning without structural OCT image input or segmentation boundaries.

Design: Cross-sectional study.

A method framework of semi-automatic knee bone segmentation and reconstruction from computed tomography (CT) images.

Background: Accurate delineation of knee bone boundaries is crucial for computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) and effective treatment planning in knee diseases. Current methods often struggle with precise segmentation due to the knee joint's complexity, which includes intricate bone structures and overlapping soft tissues. These challenges are further complicated by variations in patient anatomy and image quality, highlighting the need for improved techniques.

Familiar size affects perception differently in virtual reality and the real world.

The promise of virtual reality (VR) as a tool for perceptual and cognitive research rests on the assumption that perception in virtual environments generalizes to the real world. Here, we conducted two experiments to compare size and distance perception between VR and physical reality (Maltz . 2021 , 1-18).

Age-related macular degeneration is the leading cause of vision loss in developed countries, and wet-type AMD requires urgent treatment and rapid diagnosis because it causes rapid irreversible vision loss. Currently, AMD diagnosis is mainly carried out using images obtained by optical coherence tomography. This diagnostic process is performed by human clinicians, so human error may occur in some cases.

Although the familiar size of real-world objects affects size and distance perception, evidence is mixed about whether this is the case when oculomotor cues are available. We examined the familiar size effect (FSE) on both size and distance perception for real objects under two viewing conditions with full or restricted oculomotor cues (binocular viewing, which provides vergence and accommodation cues, and monocular viewing through a 1-mm pinhole, which removes those cues). Familiar objects (a playing die versus a Rubik's cube) were manufactured in their typical (1.
