Hypodysfibrinogenemia, the least frequently reported congenital fibrinogen disorder is characterized by low circulating levels of a dysfunctional protein, and is associated with phenotypic features of both hypo- and dysfibrinogenemia. Herein, we report an adolescent male with unprovoked venous thromboembolism and hypodysfibrinogenemia. Patient had recurrent, progressive thrombosis despite therapeutic anticoagulation with both low molecular weight heparin and warfarin. He had clinical and radiological improvement after transition to a direct thrombin inhibitor. Sequencing of the FGG gene identified a novel heterozygous mutation, c.1075G>T. Structural visualization of the identified variant was pursued and suggested that the mutation likely destabilizes the Ca -binding site of fibrinogen resulting in pathogenicity.

Large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) is facing various threats from bacterial, viral, and parasitic diseases, especially scuticociliate. Scuticociliate is a facultative parasite causing high mortality in various marine fishes. In this study, an artificial scuticociliate infection model was successfully established for large yellow croaker.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) involves blood clot formation in veins, resulting in serious health issues. Fibrinogen, a crucial clotting protein, consists of three polypeptides encoded by the fibrinogen genes: alpha (FGA), beta (FGB) and gamma (FGG). We genotyped most common missense variants in the fibrinogen genes in relation to VTE, recurrence and family history in Malmö Thrombophilia Study, including 1465 VTE patients followed for ~10 years and 429 healthy donors.

Age-related muscle wasting, sarcopenia is an extensive loss of muscle mass and strength with age and a major cause of disability and accidents in the elderly. Mechanisms purported to be involved in muscle ageing and sarcopenia are numerous but poorly understood, necessitating deeper study. Hence, we employed high-throughput RNA sequencing to survey the global changes in protein-coding gene expression occurring in skeletal muscle with age.

Hepatic fibrinogen storage disease is an uncommon autosomal dominant hereditary illness marked by hypofibrinogenemia and the accumulation of variant fibrinogen in the hepatic endoplasmic reticulum. We present an asymptomatic 15-month-old male with elevated liver enzymes. Test results indicate hypofibrinogenemia.

Objective: The poultry industry is significantly impacted by viral infections, particularly Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV), which leads to substantial economic losses. It is essential to comprehend how the sequence of development affects biological pathways and how early exposure to infections might affect immune responses.

Methods: This study employed transcriptome analysis to investigate host-pathogen interactions by analyzing gene expression changes in NDV-infected chicken embryos' lungs.
