Objective: This study aims to elucidate the anatomical principles governing the surrounding venous structures (VS) of the horizontal part of the third segment of the vertebral artery (V3h) and develop a safe and bloodless surgical technique for exposing V3h.
Methods: This study used ten formalin-infused cadaveric head specimens. The dissections were performed stepwise to simulate the far lateral approach process, exposing the V3h with a novel technique.

Patients of Jehovah's Witnesses faith who are in need of liver transplantation pose unique challenges. These patients should be seen at transplant centers with experience in caring for Jehovah's Witnesses to formulate careful preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative strategies on an individualized basis with multidisciplinary input to mitigate the risk of bleeding complications and to prepare for potentially catastrophic scenarios. In-depth and individualized conversations about what constitutes acceptable bloodless transfusion strategies both for the patient and for the transplant center should begin as early as possible with an experienced coordinator or church liaison.

Background: Some patients express concerns regarding receipt of allogeneic blood transfusions from donors potentially vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). However, limited information exists about patients' expression of these concerns or how to address them during the blood transfusion consent process. In this study, we describe our experience of working collaboratively with patients with vaccine-related transfusion concerns prior to elective surgery, summarizing treatment decisions and clinical outcomes.

Background: Fortunately, interstitial pregnancies are a rare early pregnancy presentation, yet they can be challenging to managed and are associated with a high risk of intra-abdominal haemorrhage. Once detected, surgical laparoscopic resection can be the preferred management method for both patient safety and for definitive treatment.
Objective: The video presents a new technique for laparoscopic resection of an interstitial pregnancy which enables the procedure to be effectively bloodless.
