The quantum nature of nuclei often affects molecular structure and properties, which are associated with the motion of protons and other light nuclei at low temperature. However, incorporation of the nuclear quantum effects into theoretical studies of large molecular systems is an outstanding challenge in theoretical chemistry. In this paper, the de Broglie-Bohm formulation of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation is used as a framework for the development of approximate quantum corrections to the dynamics of a trajectory ensemble, representing a time-dependent wave function. Specifically, the trajectory-centered local Least Square Fit (L-LSF) to the trajectory attributes is introduced, formally analyzed and illustrated on model potentials, typically used to benchmark approximate and semiclassical dynamics methods. The L-LSF method improves the dynamics accuracy, compared to the globally defined approximations, developed previously, and is shown to converge to the exact (generally impractical for large systems) limit of quantum dynamics.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering of R6G dimerization during self-healing of gel.

Mikrochim Acta

January 2025

Centre for Micro and Nano Devices, Department of Physics, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad, 44500, Pakistan.

Traditional surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates seeking uniformity and reproducibility of the Raman signal often assume and require that hot spots remain consistently stable during Raman testing. Recently, the non-uniform accumulation in SERS sample pre-concentration strategies have inspired the direct use of self-healing noble metal aerogels (NMAs), as the sample pretreatment presented in this work, and uncovered more diverse Raman information of substances during the dynamic process of laser irradiation. Rare characteristic peaks such as 820 cm⁻ for R6G within a specific concentration range were observed, and potential processes including R6G dimerization and desorption were analyzed.

January 2025

Department of Fundamental Chemistry, LIA3 - Applied Analytical Instrumentation Laboratory, Federal University of Pernambuco, Av. Jornalista Anibal Fernandes, s/n, Cidade Universitária, Recife, PE, 50740-560, Brazil.

This review provides a critical assessment of the most recent advances in digital imaging (DI) methods, applied for the development of analytical methodologies combining quantum dots (QDs). The state-of-the-art, treatment of data, instrumental considerations, software, sensing approaches, and optimization of the resulting methods are reported. Applications of the technology for the analysis of food and beverages, biomedically relevant analytes, drugs, environmental samples and forensic samples are also discussed.

A pair of aza-BODIPY isomers, 1,7-di--butyl-3,5-dinaphthyl (Nap-BDP) and 1,7-dinaphthyl-3,5-di--butyl (revNap-BDP), were prepared in this study. According to the single crystal X-ray analysis, Nap-BDP exhibited an orthogonal structure. Owing to the difference in orthogonality and -Bu rotation between Nap-BDP and revNap-BDP, their spectral performances, including maximum absorption and emission, full width at half maximum, fluorescence quantum yield, photostability, singlet oxygen generation and photothermal conversion efficiency, were obviously different.

Systolic Blood Pressure and Pulse Pressure in Heart Failure: Pooled Participant-Level Analysis of 4 Trials.

J Am Coll Cardiol

November 2024

Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Electronic address:

Background: Hypertension is common in patients with heart failure with mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction (HFmrEF/HFpEF), and current guidelines recommend treating systolic blood pressure (SBP) to a target <130 mm Hg. However, data supporting treatment to this target are limited. Additionally, pulse pressure (PP), a marker of aortic stiffness, has been associated with increased risk of cardiovascular events, but its prognostic impact in HFpEF has not been extensively studied.
