Nanomaterials and nanomedicinal products tend to interfere with various commonly used assays, including regulatory required endotoxin detection methods for medicines. We developed a method to quantify endotoxin levels that is compatible with nanomaterials and nanomedicinal products. The method is based on measuring endotoxin indirectly via 3-hydroxylated fatty acids of lipid-A, using Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. The outcome was related to results of the commonly used Limulus Amebocyte Lysate method. The ultra high performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry method has clear advantages compared with other endotoxin determination assays; particularly the absence of nanospecific interference. The method is sensitive, straightforward and accurate in determining and quantifying endotoxin in nanomedicinal product samples.

BACKGROUND Emphysematous urinary tract infections are rare and serious conditions that are often multifactorial in etiology and may be associated with the presence of renal stones. Diagnosis can be made by finding gas within the renal collecting system or parenchyma. However, the radiographic finding of gas within a renal stone is rare and little has been published to describe the significance of this finding, its promoting factors, and management.

The transmission and infection of enteric viruses can be influenced by co-existing bacteria within the environment and host. However, the viral binding ligands on bacteria and the underlying interaction mechanisms remain unclear. This study characterized the association of norovirus surrogate Tulane virus (TuV) and murine norovirus (MNV) as well as the human enteric virus Aichi virus (AiV) with six bacteria strains (Pantoea agglomerans, Pantoea ananatis, Bacillus cereus, Enterobacter cloacae, Exiguobacterium sibiricum, Pseudomonas spp.

Background: Reports of cases of bacterial infection due to transfusion of red blood cell (RBC) components (RBC-TTBI) are relatively rare. Hence, the possibility of undetectable bacterial contamination in RBCs, especially by psychrotrophic bacteria, must be clarified.
Study Design And Methods: We assessed nine psychrotrophic bacterial species, including those implicated in bacteremia or RBC-TTBIs.

Purpose: The sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor-1 (S1PR) is involved in regulating responses to neuroimmune stimuli. There is a need for S1PR-specific radioligands with clinically suitable brain pharmcokinetic properties to complement existing radiotracers. This work evaluated a promising S1PR radiotracer, [F]TZ4877, in nonhuman primates.

Acute liver failure (ALF) is marked by a substantial generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can induce both cellular senescence and a pronounced inflammatory response. Senescent cells secrete factors collectively termed the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), which exacerbate inflammation, while inflammation can reciprocally promote cellular senescence. Quercetin (Que), recognized for its ROS-scavenging capabilities, holds the potential for anti-inflammatory and anti-senescent effects.
