The purpose of this study was to determine if there were correlations between the length of time from hospital admission to surgical intervention and the frequency of complications in patients with odontogenic infections. While odontogenic infection is well studied in terms of interventions and outcomes, less is known about hospital utilization and resource burden of odontogenic infection with respect to timeliness to intervention. A retrospective cohort analysis was used to examine correlations between time from admission to surgical intervention and clinical outcomes.

Parathyroid hormone (PTH) has been shown to increase with GA in those undergoing parathyroidectomy (PT) with abnormal parathyroid function, but there are conflicting reports of it in those with normal parathyroid function. In this study, we aim to determine the effects of anesthetic and surgical stress on those with abnormal parathyroid function undergoing PTs as well as those with normal parathyroid function undergoing unilateral/total thyroidectomies (UTs/TTs).

High-concentration oxygen inhalation is the primary intervention to prevent perioperative hypoxemia. However, there are concerns that this may induce an imbalance in oxidation‒reduction processes, particularly in pediatric patients with compromised antioxidant defenses. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of varying intraoperative concentrations of oxygen inhalation on oxidative stress in children by analyzing plasma biomarkers, oxygenation indices, and the duration of surgery and oxygen inhalation.

Without further reinforcement, the skills learned through the simulation are subject to deterioration over time. Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice (RCDP) is a teaching method that was developed to resist this deterioration and achieve mastery of skills.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the predictive effectiveness of bedside lung ultrasound score (LUS) in conjunction with rapid shallow breathing index (RSBI) and oxygenation index (P/F ratio) for weaning pediatric patients from mechanical ventilation.
Methods: This was a retrospective study. Eighty-two critically ill pediatric patients, who were admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and underwent mechanical ventilation from January 2023 to April 2024, were enrolled in this study.
