Prcis: Trabecular cutting minimally invasive glaucoma surgery like bent ab interno needle goniectomy (BANG) when performed in baseline aqueous angiography identified low aqueous humor outflow regions, results in greater success of intraocular pressure reduction.

Purpose: To study the efficacy of Bent Ab Interno Needle Goniectomy (BANG) in high versus low aqueous humor outflow (AHO) regions as determined by Aqueous Angiography(AA) in patients with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG).

Methods: A prospective, single-centre, pilot, randomized control trial recruited 30 eyes of 30 patients of POAG and visually significant cataract (45-80 y) and were randomised into two groups ("A": BANG performed in the high-flow regions and "B": BANG performed in the low-flow regions) of 15 each.

Introduction: This retrospective, consecutive, real-world case series assessed the efficacy and safety of third-generation trabecular micro-bypass stent implantation (iStent infinite) with phacoemulsification in patients with mild-to-moderate primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG).

Methods: Patients underwent phacoemulsification combined with implantation of iStent infinite (containing three stents) by a single U.S.

Surgical Parameters and Prognostic Factors in Persistent Fetal Vasculature: Insights from a Retrospective Cohort Study.

Ophthalmol Ther

January 2025

Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Division, King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, Al Urubah Branche Rd., West Building 2nd Floor, 11462, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Introduction: Persistent fetal vasculature (PFV) is a congenital anomaly associated with significant surgical challenges, including a high risk of postoperative retinal detachment (RD). This study aimed to evaluate the impact of surgical approach and axial length (AL) on RD risk and visual outcomes in pediatric PFV management.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted involving 76 eyes of 74 patients who underwent cataract surgery for PFV between 2014 and 2022.

A decade of intracapsular cataract extraction: Clinical profile and visual outcomes at Hospital Melaka, Malaysia.

Med J Malaysia

January 2025

Universiti Sains Malaysia, School of Medical Sciences, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Health Campus, Kubang Kerian, Kelantan, Malaysia.

Introduction: Cataract is a leading cause of visual impairment globally and in Malaysia, with surgery being the definitive treatment. While intracapsular cataract extraction (ICCE) is now less commonly performed due to advancements in surgical techniques, it remains essential in specific cases, such as those with weak zonular support. This study aims to evaluate the incidence, clinical profiles, and visual outcomes of patients who underwent ICCE, with or without intraocular lens (IOL) implantation, at Hospital Melaka, Malaysia, over the past decade.

Purpose: To assess the relationship between angle kappa (apparent chord mu) and ocular parameters in cataract patients.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the data on apparent chord mu, age, axial length, anterior chamber depth, anterior and posterior mean keratometry, mean total keratometry, white-to-white, central corneal thickness and lens thickness were collected for consecutive cataract patients. Correlation (Pearson) between chord mu and the other ocular parameters was calculated.
