Preoperative platelet-to-monocyte ratio (PLR), albumin and hemoglobin are suggested prognostic indicators in various malignancies. However, the prognostic values of PLR, albumin and hemoglobin remain elusive. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the prognostic values of PLR, albumin and hemoglobin in stage I-III colon cancer. A total of 312 patients with non-metastatic colon cancer undergoing curative resection were enrolled in this study. The prognostic values of PLR, albumin and hemoglobin were identified by receiver operating characteristics, and univariate and multivariate analyses. Univariate analysis revealed that preoperative PLR, albumin and hemoglobin were significantly associated with overall survival (OS) and that preoperative PLR and albumin were significantly associated with progression-free survival (PFS). Multivariate analysis revealed that preoperative PLR was significantly associated with OS. Reduced preoperative PLR was significantly associated with better OS in patients with stage I-III colon cancer. Preoperative PLR was an independent prognostic indictor for OS in patients with colon cancer undergoing curative resection.

Sepsis is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Among the various types of end-organ damage associated with sepsis, hepatic injury is linked to significantly higher mortality rates compared to dysfunction in other organ systems. This study aimed to investigate potential biomarkers of hepatic injury in sepsis patients through a multi-center, case-control approach.

Background Wound dehiscence (WD) is a major postoperative complication following abdominal surgeries, particularly exploratory laparotomy. Identifying preoperative risk factors and using predictive tools, such as the Rotterdam Risk Index (RRI), are crucial for early intervention and improving patient outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the risk factors associated with WD and assess the predictive accuracy of the RRI in a cohort of patients undergoing abdominal surgeries.

Background: Acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC) affects up to 25% of patients with UC and is associated with an increased risk of colectomy. Despite improvements in medical management, individual patient prognostication and risk stratification in ASUC remains challenging. We explored clinical, biochemical, and endoscopic factors as potential predictors for colectomy in patients hospitalized with ASUC.

Background And Objectives: To determine whether intra-individual differences in pre-donation blood test results were associated with vasovagal reactions (VVRs).

Materials And Methods: The study included donors who voluntarily donated 400 mL of whole blood at least twice during a 5-year blood collection period of the Japanese Red Cross, including both donations with and without a VVR. A conditional logistic regression analysis by age group and sex was conducted, using each donor as a stratum, together with an analysis of deviance to test the significance of including an interaction term between age group and blood data in the regression model.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of 7-tumor associated autoantibodies (7-TAAB) and to evaluate the relationship between 7-TAAB and clinical features in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), which can be used to guide clinical diagnosis and treatment and achieve its clinical value.

Methods: (1) Blood specimens were collected from patients with ESCC who had not previously received antitumor therapy (ESCC group) and those who had normal medical check-ups in the hospital during the same period (control group). The concentrations of 7-TAAB (P53, PGP9.
