Complications of twin pregnancy such as twin anemia-polycythemia sequence (TAPS), which involve placental anastomotic vessels, occur mostly in monochorionic diamniotic twins and they have rarely been reported in dichorionic diamniotic (DD) twins. Here, we report a case of DD twins diagnosed with TAPS with fetal hydrops caused by fetal anemia at 28 weeks, which resolved spontaneously during pregnancy. A 37-year-old pregnant woman was referred to our hospital because of a twin pregnancy at 13 weeks.

This study involves the development and molecular characterization of the isogenic markerless knockout mutant SG Δ, a genetically engineered live attenuated strain aimed at controlling Gallinarum (SG) infection in poultry. The mutant was generated by deleting the gene using -Red recombination technology, impairing adenylosuccinate lyase, necessary for purine biosynthesis. An 1,180 bp deletion was engineered within the gene, leaving a residual 298 bp genomic scar resulting in a purine auxotrophic mutant.

Unlabelled: ETDRS charts with logarithmic notation are widely used for measuring visual acuity in clinical studies worldwide. However, the distribution of measurement results often deviates from normal, limiting the applicability of parametric statistical methods, which are more powerful than the non-parametric ones. In cases of significant skewness, raw data can undergo power transformation with varying exponents (λ), as described by J.

Streamlining pediatric vital sign assessment: innovations and insights.

Sci Rep

September 2024

Department of Pediatrics, Seoul National University Hospital, 101, Daehak-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul, 03080, Republic of Korea.

Accurate assessment of pediatric vital signs is critical for detecting abnormalities and guiding medical interventions, but interpretation is challenging due to age-dependent physiological variations. Therefore, this study aimed to develop age-specific centile curves for blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate in pediatric patients and create a user-friendly web-based application for easy access to these data. We conducted a retrospective cross-sectional observational study analyzing 3,779,482 records from the National Emergency Department Information System of Korea, focusing on patients under 15 years old admitted between January 2016 and December 2017.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focused on creating a CT-enhanced scanning radiomics nomogram to differentiate between early hepatic abscess (EHA) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and to test its effectiveness in diagnosis.
  • - Researchers analyzed data from 112 patients using 3D Slicer software for imaging, and various modeling techniques, including LASSO regression and ROC analysis, helped develop a predictive model and a joint nomogram combining radiomics and clinical scores.
  • - Results showed significant differences in various clinical and imaging features between EHA and ICC patients, indicating that the nomogram can potentially enhance diagnostic accuracy for these conditions.
