The structures of two azide containing imidazole derivatives are reported. Allylic azides are fairly reactive making them attractive starting compounds to convert into amides. The first, CHNOS, contains one azide group with an N-N distance of 1.229 (2) Å and an N-N distance of 1.128 (2) Å. The second, CHNOS, contains two azide groups with an average N-N distance of 1.249 (2) Å and an average N-N distance of 1.132 (2) Å. Each compound contains a bulky protecting group (di-methyl-amino-sulfon-yl) which can be easily removed under mildly acidic conditions.

The solvation structure and dynamics of the thiocyanate anion at infinite dilution in mixed N, N-Dimethylformamide (DMF)-water liquid solvents was studied using classical molecular dynamics simulation techniques. The results obtained have indicated a preferential solvation of the thiocyanate anions by the water molecules, due to strong hydrogen bonding interactions between the anion and water molecules. A first hydration shell at short intermolecular distances is formed around the SCN- anion consisting mainly by water molecules, followed by a second shell consisting by both DMF and water molecules.

The title compound, CHBrNO, crystallizes with two similar mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The extended structure features dimers linked by pairs of N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The HNCNO moiety of the title compound shows delocalization over the N-C-N part, as evidenced by the similar C-N bond distances.

Objectives: To assess the quality of life in Japanese patients with Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) using The National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire.
Methods: Here, 34 patients with FECD (FECD group) and 13 healthy individuals (control group) completed the National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire Japanese version by interview format. The association between dominant eye corrected distance visual acuity and composite score (component 11) or subscales in the FECD group was evaluated using Spearman rank correlation coefficient.
