Background: To investigate the effect of nimotuzumab (N) combined with nab-paclitaxel, cisplatin, and fluorouracil (APF) neoadjuvant chemotherapy on the surgical margin.
Methods: 55 patients were divided into three groups: neoadjuvant chemotherapy and surgery group (G1, 15 cases), chemotherapy and surgery group (G2 group, 20 cases), and surgery group (G3 group, 20 cases). Tissue samples of the tumor core zone (P0), adjacent (P1, 3-5mm from tumor), distal adjacent (P2, 7-10mm from tumor), and surgical margin (P3, 15mm from tumor) were collected.

Background: As part of an organ sparing strategy, a surgical local excision may be performed in patients with early-stage rectal cancer or following neoadjuvant (chemo)radiotherapy. In selected cases, a completion total mesorectal excision may be recommended which can be more complex because of the preceding local excision. A transanal approach to perform completion total mesorectal excision may offer an advantage through the better visualization of the surgical field in the distal rectum and less forceful retraction for exposure.

Background: Central venous catheter (CVC) is often used in the perioperative management of esophageal cancer. The position of the CVC tip has been reported to shift with body positioning and, although infrequent, may traverse into the azygos vein arch. Herein, we describe a case where a migrated CVC tip in the azygous vein arch was identified during esophageal cancer surgery, preventing CVC dissection concurrent with azygous vein arch resection.

The liver's unique cellular structure makes it a frequent site for metastatic cancer. In colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM), surgical resection is essential for long-term survival. Histopathological growth patterns (HGPs) in CRLM, including desmoplastic and nondesmoplastic patterns, provide critical prognostic information.

Background: Abdominal perineal resection (APR) of rectal cancer, also known as Mile's procedure, is a classic procedure for the treatment of rectal cancer. Through the improvement of surgical skills and neoadjuvant therapy, the sphincter-preserving rate in rectal cancer patients has improved, even in patients with ultralow rectal cancer who underwent APR in the past. However, APR cannot be completely replaced by low anterior resection (LAR) in reality.
