Background: The acute effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on blood pressure (BP) may depend on the exercise protocol performed. Purpose: To compare the acute effect of high and low-volume HIIT on post-exercise and ambulatory BP in untrained older females diagnosed with both type 2 diabetes (T2D) and hypertension (HTN). Methods: Fifteen females (69 [65 ─ 74] years) completed a crossover study with three experimental conditions: 1) REST (35 min in sitting position); 2) HIIT10 (10 × 1 min at 90% heart rate max [HRmax]), and 3) HIIT4 (4 × 4 min at 90% HRmax).

Background: Aging is associated with disruptions in non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep and memory decline. Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) increases with age and is associated with clinical sleep disturbance, but little is known about its relationship with local expression of NREM sleep. Here, we explore associations between CSVD burden, memory, and local electroencephalography (EEG) measures during NREM sleep in older adults.

Context: In males of normal weight, intraduodenal administration of calcium enhances the effects of the amino acid, L-tryptophan (Trp), to suppress energy intake, associated with greater stimulation of cholecystokinin (CCK), glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and peptide tyrosine-tyrosine (PYY) secretion (key mechanisms underlying the regulation of pyloric motility and gastric emptying), but not gastrin or glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP).
Objective: Given the implications for the management of obesity, the current study evaluated the effects of calcium, when administered alone and in combination with Trp, on gut hormone secretion, antropyloroduodenal motility and energy intake in males with obesity.
Methods: Fifteen males with obesity and without type 2 diabetes (mean±SD; age: 27±8 years; body mass index: 30±2 kg/m2; HbA1c: 5.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD), Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB), and other neurodegenerative diseases (NDD) develop over an extended preclinical period, sharing common risk factors and underlying pathophysiological mechanisms. Plasma proteins, including Amyloid-beta peptides (Aβ) and Tau isoforms, facilitate differential diagnosis of NDD in their earliest stages, allowing for timely delivery of targeted interventions. Blood-based biomarkers may also serve as a reliable means of monitoring disease progression and evaluating the effectiveness of individualized interventions across the spectrum of disease.

Hence, TDP-43 is becoming an important player in age-related neurodegeneration. To advance our understanding of TDP-43 effect on hippocampus, we conducted an imaging-pathological study to determine which specific hippocampal subfields are affected by TDP-43 in cases of PART.
