Anticarsia gemmatalis Hübner (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is mainly controlled with synthetic insecticides such as chlorantraniliprole. However, these compounds may affect non-target organs of insect metabolism. The objective of this study was to evaluate the toxic effect in the midgut goblet cells of A. gemmatalis caterpillars exposed to chlorantraniliprole. The midgut of these caterpillars, which ingested the insecticide in medium-lethal dose (LD), was dissected and evaluated by transmission electron microscopy. The goblet cells microvilli, after exposure to the insecticide, were disorganized and degenerated. This can compromise ionic homeostasis and nutrient absorption, impair physiological mechanisms of detoxification, and reduce the movement of food boluses throughout the insect midgut.

This study aimed to investigate the mechanism by which Shegan Mahuang Decoction(SGMH) and its bitter Chinese herbs(BCHs) regulated the lung-gut axis through the bitter taste receptor 14(TAS2R14)/secretory immunoglobulin A(SIgA)/thymic stromal lymphopoietin(TSLP) to intervene in the epithelial cell barrier of cold asthma rats. Fifty SD rats were randomly divided into the following five groups: normal group, model group, dexamethasone group, SGMH group, and BCHs group. A 10% ovalbumin(OVA) solution was used to sensitize the rats via subcutaneous injection on both sides of the abdomen and groin, combined with 2% OVA atomization and cold(2-4 ℃) stimulation to induce a cold asthma model in rats.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major public health concern. Animal models play a crucial role in understanding the disease pathology and development of effective treatment strategies. Chemically induced CRC represents a cornerstone in animal model development; however, due to the presence of different animal species with different genetic backgrounds, it becomes mandatory to study the susceptibility of different mice species to CRC induction by different chemical entities such as 1,2-dimethylhydrazine (DMH).

This study was conducted to assess the effects of fumonisin B (FB) on the jejunum of pigs using a novel ex vivo model conducted in parallel with an in vivo trial. For the in vivo model, twelve male 28 to 70-days-old pigs were subjected to two treatments of six animals each: the control group, fed a basal diet (BD), and the FB group, fed the BD + 50 mg/kg FB. At 70 days, the animals were slaughtered and one jejunal sample was collected from each pig for further histopathological analyses.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of β-glucan derived from Euglena gracilis (EGB), an edible microalga, on particulate matter (PM)-induced airway inflammation in A549 cells and BALB/c mice. EGB effectively suppressed the mRNA and protein levels of inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-8) and mediators (iNOS, COX-2), while inhibiting the NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways triggered by PM exposure and reducing nuclear NF-κB levels. Additionally, EGB decreased PM-induced ROS production and increased the protein levels of NRF2 and HO-1, along with genes encoding antioxidant enzymes (catalase, GPx, SOD1), associated with elevated nuclear NRF2 levels.

The study aimed to assess the impact of dietary supplementation with tannic acid on the growth, health, and survival of Oreochromis niloticus following exposure to Aeromonas hydrophila. A total of 320 fish were divided into 16 tanks and assigned to four treatment groups: feed with 0.2 % tannic acid (TA), 0.
