Background/aim: Death receptor 6 (DR6) is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily. The expression of DR6 is elevated in different kinds of tumors including ovarian, breast cancer and adult sarcoma. In these tumors, the receptor may be handled as a new diagnostic and prognostic marker. Thus, we investigated the expression of DR6 in gliomas.
Materials And Methods: Tumor and control tissues were extracted during neurosurgery and grouped according to the WHO classification. DR6 expression was investigated in low- and high-grade gliomas PCR (n=70), immunofluorescence staining (n=33) and western blot (n=58). Additional analysis of TCGA-data was performed to assess the general alteration of DR6 in cancer and influence of IDH-mutation on DR6 expression in gliomas.
Results: The expression of DR6 was significantly enhanced in gliomas (p<0.05). It showed a trend towards rising expression with increasing malignancy of the tumor. Chemotherapy treatment could have an influence on DR6 expression.
Conclusion: In our investigation, DR6 acts as a potential suitable diagnostic marker for gliomas.

Introduction: Cytokines and chemokines direct the inflammatory response and may serve as markers of immune dysregulation in Pemphigus vulgaris (PV), an autoimmune blistering skin disorder. Previous studies on limited numbers of patients and cytokine profiles in PV have produced equivocal results regarding the role these mediators play in disease.
Methods: In this study, we interrogated serum samples from 116 PV patients and 29 healthy controls by multiplexed bead array assays across a comprehensive set of cytokines and chemokines covering several functional categories, including IL-1α, IL-1β, IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-8, IL-9, IL-10, IL-12, IL-13, IL-15, IL-17, IL-21, IL-22, IL-23, TNFα, IFNγ, MCP-1, and Eotaxin.

Background: Prion diseases are transmissible and fatal neurodegenerative diseases characterized by accumulation of misfolded prion protein isoform (PrP), astrocytosis, microgliosis, spongiosis, and neurodegeneration. Elevated levels of cell membrane associated PrP protein and inflammatory cytokines hint towards the activation of death receptor (DR) pathway/s in prion diseases. Activation of DRs regulate, either cell survival or apoptosis, autophagy and necroptosis based on the adaptors they interact.

Seed dormancy is a life adaptation trait exhibited by plants in response to environmental changes during their growth and development. The dormancy of commercial seeds is the key factor affecting seed quality. Eggplant seed dormancy is controlled by quantitative trait loci (QTLs), but reliable QTLs related to eggplant dormancy are still lacking.

The impairment of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) has been increasingly recognised as a critical element in the early pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD), prompting a focus on brain endothelial cells (BECs), which serve as the primary constituents of the BBB. Death receptor 6 (DR6) is highly expressed in brain vasculature and acts downstream of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway to promote BBB formation during development. Here, we found that brain endothelial DR6 levels were significantly reduced in a murine model of AD (APP/PS1 mice) at the onset of amyloid-β (Aβ) accumulation.
